But, seriously, Cappers must have taken a gamble and it paid off.

so the tires werent the issue then..

No, the tyre selection! Unfortunately most of the field made the wrong
    choice!

Yeah but Capirossi was the only Bridgestone rider running that
compound - everyone else apparently used the harder compound and did
    badly as it didn't last

Weeelllll, a half dozen bridgestone riders chose one compound, one
person chose a different one and survived to the end - but it was
supposedly a softer compound which should have worn faster - sounds
like what bridgestone put on the deck as the hard compound didn't work
the way everyone including bridgestone expected...

I think the tyres were a factor, I doubt it was everything but when
you see, what the first 8 places, being 6 michelin bikes IIRC ? Then I
think the tyres played a part (same as the bridgestones being a better
tyre played a part in a couple of the races Stoner won - that's
racing - it's the whole package.

depends on track temp , harder rubber slips more so they may wear faster
    at a cooler temp

50 degrees C on track.. so yes a little bit on the warmer side of
    track temps for the season.

Read it again, he (Loris) used a different compound which should have
been softer and managed to make it last. The harder compounds went off
in the last half of the race - Bridgestone made a mistake somewhere.
As I said though, that's racing - they've had some brilliant results
due to Michelin not being able to put a tyre on the deck that stayed
    the distance.

Yes they should - hence it would seem the tyres Bridgestone supplied
didn't have the characteristics they told the teams they should. There
was a mistake somewhere. <shrug> Michelin has bought along race tyres
that didn't make race distance this year too...

I thought there were 3 stones in top 10, at one point there the
commentators said, but I was on the Cab Sav at that point.

The harder compound should have lasted, and the soft tires should have
been gone long before the hards had worn out, thats what Im lost on.
