Wow, looks like it's going to be another interesting race based on the very
    close qual.

I'll stop pretending I have a clue on what might go on. Between the times
being so close, and the fact the difference between qual tires and race
tires having a track record of resulting in qual times and race positions
not reliably correlating that much anymore, the race is very open as far as
I can see. The only safe assumption is that Biaggi, Rossi and Gibernau will
be racing for the top positions for a while, then again pressure being what
it is one or more of them might crash out again. I was expecting that
crashes would be having more of a result in the championship race this year,
and thus far was surprised at their utter absence. As pressure continues to
build, I think we'll see more of them. I do expect however that both
Gibernau and Rossi will try to be a tad more conservative after the fiasco
in Rio, and the great winner could be Biaggi: if he wins, and Rossi and
Gibernau overly focus on each other and play it safe, there's plenty of
riders that seem ready to place themselves between Biaggi and the leading
duo and hurt them in the point race.

But so many permutations are possible!

Really? While the tyres were good, there didn't seem to be much between
them. The Honda had more mid range, the Yamaha more top end (perhaps a
gearing thing rather than sheer power) and slightly better on the entry
to corners. Both Checa and Sete rushed up to the front before crashing
and even though Biaggi jumped away at the start of the straight, Rossi
was closing on him at the end of the straight and on his back wheel by
the middle of the next corner.

But the tyre compromises seemed to suit the Hondas marginally better
    than the Yamaha.

  4. Don't think so. He knew he was inferior and he just tried to put pressure on
the Honda boys. And check but I' m sure it was not midrace.
Anyway great show from the 2, Max very confident and how aggressive was
    Rossi!!!

I have to agree with Mark on this one. I think if Rossi had stayed
planted on the rear of Max or just stayed in front of Max, he would
have definitely been on the box. Rossi seemed to be able to go
a bit quicker than Max and could pass him, but he just pushed
too hard and ruined the tire. The first 2 laps after he passed he
pulled out a pretty good size gap, then they started reeling him
    back in.

I'm joining this thread after 4 days of most RR/TPA UseNet being offline, so
if I'm stepping on anyone's toes, pardon me. But whoever said,"Don't think
so. He knew he was inferior and he just tried to put pressure on the Honda
boys." Was, in my view, correct... ( Damn,I hope it wasn't Nusbaum!, just
kidding, Mark :) Anyway, on a tight track like the "ring", if you can get
out of sight (like around the corner) it's pretty much game over, as you
can't catch what you can't see. (99% of the time) Believe it or not, Vale is
human, he wasn't outgunned or out tired. He gave it his best shot and paid
for it. If anyone was "riding the rims," it was Hayden, the kid blew through
half of the field in like 3 or 4 laps, then caught the leaders and did the
"flat track" thing at the end to keep Vale at bay.( didn't anyone here
    "notice?")
By the way, I kept waiting for Barros to toss it on the last few laps and
take Biaggi out with him.( Is it just me or what?)

It would appear that "someone"(MostHonorableM/Frzs) has "lit the fire" under
    the Repsol guys, huh?
Rumor has it,"we(Hondasan) not pay big $ for 4th or 5th, maybe it time for
you boy's to s**t or get off pot." If true, that would surely be a
motivating factor! After all, there isn't anywhere else to go, but down or
out.....(they may be good but "they" ain't Rossi..) .....No racist B/S
here, that's almost verbatim as I was told.. There was more but I'll not
repeat it, take it or leave it, we'll see.....

"Way to go" Max, outstanding performance, from the pole, too!..

BTW- Sete, WTF happened? Twice already... I'm losing my "shirt" on you, get
    a "grip!" Damn!!
