Getting there ..

    Hi All,

I combined a run out (in the car) escorting daughter on her Skipper
with picking up shiny new pair of rear shocks for the CB Two-Fifty
    today.

We even managed an egg_n_bacon roll and cuppa at High Beech before it
started raining and saw a blue Two-Fifty like mine riding off.

While we were at Hagons I asked about having her_who_will_obey's XV750
wheels re-spoked with stainless but they said they couldn't do it
(metric nipples or summat) so it will either be a new standard set
from Yamaha or clean the existing ones up and get them re-chromed?

The other day I got the Two-Fifty swinging arm, main stand and a few
other scruffy buts shot blasted and a mate has spray primed and
chassis-painted them for me (whilst he had the gear out on a camper
    he's tidying up).

I've cleaned up the exhausts as much as I can but will need to silver
heat_proof paint the rustier bits (mainly on the inside and behind the
mounting brackets). New exhaust gaskets, collets and dome nuts ready
and waiting (gaskets were flat, collets rusting away and I had to
de-dome a couple of the nuts to get them freed).

I *might* spray the fork legs .. or maybe just polish them up (they
have that light grainy oxide on them atm).

Apart from the exhausts the only other chrome bits are the bars, clock
and headlamp bezels and they should come ok with a bit of Autosolve.
The fork stanchions are slightly pitted in a few places but will also
come up ok (and don't leak).

The wheels are done and it has new Pirelli tyres. Also new battery,
    disk, sprockets and chain.

I did think of dropping the headset out and black painting that while
I was there but those bits can be done on a sunny weekend later on.

One thing I'm not sure if I should change (while it's all out) is the
rear swinging arm bushes, pins and end caps? They are obviously
showing wear marks (the bikes done 60k) but I'm not sure what is
considered ok MOT wise? Not that it's done many miles since it passed
    the last one.

Lastly, things like the large swinging arm nut [1] and bolt. Can you
get that sort of thing re-(nickel?) plated easily / cheaply please?

    All the best ..

[1] I don't suppose a new 'bright' nut would be too expensive? I just
think it's the little details like that can make it look that much
more cared for (especially as I've changed most of the visible
fasteners for stainless already) and as the daughter should
(hopefully) be taking it over later ... ?
