  1. Can anyone remember the website which gave the approximate location of a
mobile phone by putting in its number?

There are lots of companies offering this service but this one had the UKRM
stamp of approval because it was free.

  4. It was a experimental web site created by BT engineering. It only lasted
    two weeks.

  5. I wouldn't mind if they did another experiment with a super-accurate
version - I'd love to find out where/who the little twat is who keeps
    phoning me.

ask your network provider to monitor the incoming calls and advise them when
it happens so they can sort it.

Surely it can't be that accurate? I thought GPRS location services on
    mobiles required the owners consent?

  11. Why would that be? All this information can be stored through the legal
intercept server gateway to off site storage owned the Gov. Mobile
operators have to install the Liam servers. The servers themselves are
controlled by those doing the legal intercept. Even the operator doesn't
    know who is being intercepted.

I think it's a legal requirement now. Very big brother especially as the
UK has 20% of the world CCTV market. Yes it was you sir in the picture,
your mobile phone said you where here at that time.

Funny really considering you can buy a PAYG sim (system indentity
module) in boots or whatever for 10 quid for cash.

I'm not talking about a system requirement for consent. The services
we've looked at for businesses required a text message to be sent to
any mobile that wasn't company owned prior to providing the location
information. I kind of hoped/assumed this was a legal requirement but
    it seems not.
