Well normally I'd give it the usual, but they were pretty insistent. And IAIAP I'm a bit of a newbie when it come to road tyres. IYSWIM
This has been discussed before on here at length. What *I* do is just make sure I get it good and evenly warm, giving it more and more stress over about 20ish miles. One heat cycle and it's good to go.
Well, obviously your experience is your experience, and I'm not about to tell you that you're wrong. However, with every new tyre I've had in the last 10 years, all I've needed to do is get it up to temperature. This can in fact be done in a lot less than 20 miles.
I think I mention it more than anyone. Anyway, the fact that I feel of within a mile supports, rather than undermines my argument, I think.

Champ says... 014s don't take much scrubbing in. Following Champ's "Do as I say, not as I do" advice, mine were about done in 20 miles or so.
BT45s don't take long either; about the time it takes to warm a biggish air cooled twin: 20 minutes or so.
