Well, last time it wouldn't turn the motor, now it does.

They're luvvly.

Anyway, it's sat and idled for 20 minutes, till the oil got hot enough
to drain. Radiator fans chipped in, too, to add load - not a stutter.

The only thing I can think of that look slightly dodgy is the little
green feed wire *to* the alternator, which charges the magnets, or
something.

New oil and filter, and I'll subject it to a trip to Sainsburys.

Bad Oil Pixies hiding in the sump?

 

I have this image of him pumping 3.7l of oil in through the filler under
high pressure, and 2.7l spraying out the breather...

I've never heard of Standard Wing oil before. Is it any good?

 

Must be. Thirsty little buggers, they are, too.

Dunno - not more than a quarter litre, even if you invert it and fill
it up from a jug.

If it's doing , say, 800cc every 4-5 thousand miles, I'm not that
bothered - it's done it for the last 30,000 miles, and doesn't appear
to be getting any worse.

The oil consumption on the CBX is a tad more worrying, tbh.

On a comparative note - the Blackbird uses next to nothing.
Like <100cc.

Oddly, no. It's only really been used on two weekends: once to Chimay,
once to the Black Horse.

Considering it spends most of its time on short hops, I'm quite
impressed, tbh.

I dunno - I guess it's burning it.

Did the previous owner fill it right up? When? It's supposed to have
had a full service some 350 miles before I bought it, which suggests
it's done around a litre and a quarter in just 1400 miles.

I could ask darsy or Simon if it smokes, but they didn't spend much
time behind me on the run to Chimay.

It's full now, so we'll see.
