glove recommendations please...

  1. I think I need some new gloves. It's too early to break out my
heavyweight winter gloves, but my summer gloves are no good for the
    following reasons:

    1) waterproof they ain't. They seem to saturate quickly. (leather).

    2) they ming. Not visually. Internally. I washed them 5 days ago and
already they make my hands stink :(

    3) not really warm enough, especially in light of 1).

So I'm on the look out for some light to medium weight gloves, that are
waterproof, warm and won't start to ming or are unmingable.

Also, anyone use gloves that are predominantly non leather? any good?

Hein Gericke Classic Gloves: 4-fingered (a thumb isn't considered one,
dintcha know?) They are very warm, comfy and water's never got in mine
yet. They're a textile glove with hard plastic knuckle protection and
I rate them very highly. Can't say what they're like in an off,
    though...

Hmm, I see a pattern forming here - guess where I'll be heading on
saturday. Oh and I can't see any of the afore mentioned on the website.
Although right now that could be user error.

Their webshite is shite, ignore it beacuse it was being run by the
German side, and they are in administration and the website hasn't been
    updated since March.

Go into the shop and try some gloves on. It's the only way to be sure
that what you buy actually does fit you. IME you can try a large glove
in one style that fits perfectly, and then a small in another that fits
the same. A case in point being my Stokers (size S), and my Pathans
(size L). So try everything you can get your hands in, until you find
    the right one for you.

Be warned, Valley glove inners need to be pinched at the finger tips
when taking them off, or they pull inside out, and Pathan gloves do get
baggier with use, so buy a tight fit if you can. If they get too loose
in time, you can always fit a pair of Cold Killer undergloves inside to
take up the spare, and keep you extra warm in winter. It's what I do
with my 3 year old ones.

They dried too slowly allowing all the bacteria to multiply in the damp.
Stick some foot odour powder in them.
I got a pair of Belstaff Patrol gloves I quite like. £35, They have a
polyurethane membrane that seems to do a better job than shelltex.
    Completely waterproof so far.

Tried that as well but unless you crucify them they still come out slightly
damp. Foot powder and stick them on top of the hot water tank. Oh yeah, and
    rotate several pairs.

  12. Maybe your big hands affect the waterproofing, like if you lean
against the side of a tent in the rain. Whereas Lozzo's little'ins are
    kept warm and dry.

    Or something.

The Goretex Dainese jobs I got at that last NEC show do the job. Faf to put
on though. The cuff is a double glove, one goes up inside the jacket and the
other goes outside the sleeve. Drain hole in bottom between the two.
*Total* waterproofness, warm, not at all bulky across the palm. £50.

Ah, but cherries are left whole, whilst peaches are cut into little bits -
