  2. Any recomendations for gloves from the font? It's dashed chilly out
there right now so I'd like something that protects from this but
doesn't turn into a bag of sweat come Summer time.

    Removable linings?

    I know, moon, stick etc.

HG lobster gloves and a thin sumemr pair. Why fart around with
something that you know is going to be neither one or the other and/or
    expensive to acheive?

Yes,the *air* type gloves with liners work well in moderately cold
    climes. I use a silk
liner but you may need something with more thermo protection..they
    make'em.

    AOL.

I have different gloves for different seasons. I used four different
pairs regularly last year! I think I'd always want three pairs now: heavy
winter ones[1]; unlined, ventilated summer ones[2]; lightweight waterproof
ones[2] for rainy summer days and spring/autumn. (The fourth pair are
another medium-weight waterproof pair: a bit warmer than my other
spring/autumn gloves but getting a bit tatty.)

I really like my summer gloves. It's just so nice to have comfortable
hands in the summer, and the intimacy of control that thin gloves give. I
might do without the medium-weight gloves but not thin gloves, now. The
fit is what makes them so good, though: I've got a new pair[3] for this
summer 'cause my old ones are wearing out and I had to try on a lot of
different gloves to find a suitable replacement, (since my older ones
    aren't made anymore).

Unless you want to get silly, gloves aren't terribly expensive so far
better to specialise than try to save a few quid and have one pair which
    is never quite right.

[1] HG Pathans, but the four-fingered ones not the lobsters. Not as
warm but easier to live with.
    [2] Both RST.
[3] Alpine Stars. I know they're not well regarded but they appear to be
well constructed and more importantly they were the only ones I tried
which came close to the RST gloves they're replacing. They're actually
last-year's model, so I got them fairly cheap at the NEC.

Separate summer & winter gloves. Removable linings would only make
gloves in "summer mode" fit badly.

I have settled on two pairs.

Two finger panthans/belstaff for autumn/winter/spring and a pair of out
of fashion mostly armour and ventilation out of the tenner bin for the
    rest of the year.

I could do with a pair of not necessarily warm but waterproof ones for
warm wet days added to make three pairs in total I think, I am still
    undecided.

I am actually more concerned about me boots as the zip in one has
started catching a tooth half way up and The Season is upon us with all
    it says for inflated prices.

only I resorted to three. the added spring/autumn selection that
    Verdis mentioned.

    I might add a fourth that's a heated version but I haven't found a set
cheap enough yet. I figured over a ton for something that's only
needed half a dozen times a year was a bit much.

Lobsters for winter, something else for summer.
Wouldn't that make them a bit loose and flappy in summer?

Yup. Well, "using" is a bit strong. I have them, but I keep
forgetting to take them out with me, and usually regret it 30 mins
later when I've got all the feeling of two icy stumps at the end of my
    arms.
