Keeps telling me my file names or extensions are too long...

Maybe I'll rename all the problem files later... But for now there's about
3/4 of CD 1 up there.

We need a UKRM FTP server. Who has spare home bandwidth and a machine.

Not for hosting the sort of stuff this load of reprobates are likely to
put on it. Maybe using eMule with filenames prefixed with "UKRM-" would
be a better option, or a UKRM bittorrent tracker site (but that sounds
like a load of agro to implement me).

What about going the P2P route and setting up a private ukrm direct
connect hub? I have run a hub in the past for mates at work to leech
filth off each other. It worked very well. The only disadvantage is
you can't use a generic login for all users as per the ukrm gmail
drive. Each user would have to run a DC++ client and have their own
login account for the hub. A PITA to administer. Yeah, on second
thoughts forget it, its a crap idea.

On a secondary note, I copied a list of MP3'd albums I have
"available" onto the gmail drive if anyone is interested. Under the
    folder SimonM.

Fine, free and very useful (to me) software.
20M storage and 300M per day download is estimated.

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/E-mail/Mail-Utilities/GMail-Drive-shell-extension.shtml
"such as total filename size must be less than 40 characters"

This may include the whole path name?

I also read somewhere a minute ago that gmail was limited to 10M
    files.

Ah yes, together these limitations will present some difficulties.

I seem to recall that PKZIP could optionally create
multiple files of a certain size. Maybe one of the current zippy
programs does this too. Kludge but it woodwork.

This is such a good idea that someone is bound to fix it,
    sooner of later.

What google think of it is of course a different matter.
