Going around in circles

Right, I've charged the battery on the Tenere and it starts ok after
it's hissy fit but there's obviously a problem and I don't trust the
fucker not to do it again.

That's fine, I've phoned the dealer to tell them that I'll be getting
Yamaha Assist to recover the bike and get it to the dealer so they can
find out why the engine management light comes on and why it flattens
    the battery except....

Yamaha Assist (RAC) won't fucking recover it because I've charged the
battery and if I ride it around until it dies they'll come and jump
start it and if it runs ok and the warning light stays off they then
leave me with it until it dies again.

Yamaha dealer says that's pretty shit but if they have to come and
fetch it I have to pay for the privilege even though it's twice had
the warning light come on and Yamaha say don't ride it when that light
    comes on.

My decision? I'm going to ride it until it dies and if it causes a
shed load of issues with the engine management then tough shit, ****
off and die, it's still within warranty. I actually hope it does at
least a grands worth because Yamaha are going to be getting an email
from me explaining why I insisted on riding the bike when I knew it
    had problems.

If it's done it once etc...
Eh? Fucking hell thats utterly crap.
Christ that a bit crap. As you say, ride it until it dies & then let them
    have the shit.

Should've bought something with nice reliable Italian electrics.
Possible handy hint - when the brakes failed on my Landy, the RAC just
sent a recovery truck straight away as they're not allowed to attempt
roadside repairs of brake problems. This was 20 years ago mind, so
    things may have changed.

They probably have: I wouldn't be surprised if they're not allowed to
work on steering, suspension, transmission or engine problems by the
    roadside nowadays.

I'll come round and stick it on my trailer, then drop it at your dealer
    of choice if you like.

I really need to add an idiot buzzer to the ST4s parking light, managed
to the leave it on again the other day. Luckily it was only for a couple
of hours so I wasn't stranded.

    Very much doubt it.

The guy I spoke to at the RAC said you can still drive/ride if the
engine management light comes on and their roadside technician would
advise me. Yeah, give me it in writing you cunts.

I'll just ride it around and once it's been recovered to the dealer
and I have to get myself home I'll start to investigate legal action
to recover my costs because they won't take it to a dealer and then
take me home, I have to sort myself out from there.

I know I can get Adie to follow me to the dealers and if it gets there
then that's great and if it doesn't she can meet me there later and
bring me home but what's the fucking point of having a manufacturer
supplied recovery service if they don't want to do the job?

Thanks for that and you know where the dealer is but I'll probably
come home on Saturday and commit multiple homicide.

Don't discount me taking you up on the offer later in the week when
    I've calmed down btw.

How about part flattening the battery by leaving the lights on for a
few hours, might save you a bit of time.

As long as you do that in the Great Metropolis of Bedford IDGAF.
Any time, man. I'm sure you have the numbers.

Would it not be better to write to Yamaha now and see if they'll see

I'll be on the phone to the dealer again at some point today to point
out the potential risk involved if the bike's ridden (1) and to tell
them that no way will I be paying to have them collect it and if they
still say no I'll ride it over on Saturday.

I'll see what they have to say for themselves when I get over there
but my view right now is that they've had a lot of money (2) from
myself and Adie this year and while it's too convenient for her to
stop using them I'll not be going there apart from for any warranty
    work.

    (1) It's a charging fault, I don't think I'm lucky enough for it to be
serious enough to **** things terminally.

    (2)Two new bikes, a 6k service on the R1 and a 16k service on the 10R.
