Going to Adelaide

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by James Mayfield, Dec 18, 2003.

  1. January is going to be road trip time.

Loading up the ZX10, and going to Adelaide. (From Sydney.)

Is there are good way to go, that's not as boring as the Hume & Sturt
    Drearyways?

camden, fitzroy falls, kangaroo valley, nowra, batemans bay, bermagui,
tathra, bega, brown mtn, cooma, kiandra, khancoban, alpine way to jindabyne
again, ski resorts, charlotte's pass, berridale, adaminiby, kiandra, towards
khancoban, tintaldra, down the murray to granya, across the gap, towards
mittamitta, after about 30km turn right to tangambalanga, 3km before town
turn left for the backroad to mt. beauty, across the gap to bright (great
ice-cream joint on main st)(a few quick return stints up to falls creek/mt.
hotham/mt buffalo), then towards wangaratta, through myrtleford (great
bakery), left and through oxley, ~10km later left to whitfiled and via
    tolmie to mansfield.
    Mansfield-yarck-alexandra-buxton-marysville-lake mountain-reefton
spur-warburton-grab a map to make your way across mt. dandenong and finish
    up in emerald.
emerald via wellington rd which gets you onto the monash fwy, follow that
towards and through the city (westgate bridge), leading straight to the
dreaded 100km of fwy to geelong.
after geelong to deans marsh, turn sth. onto the GOR, follow the coast with
a little side-trip into the grampians? maybe?, back to the coast, just
before the SA- border turn west, then sth. to victor harbour, follow the
    fleurieu peninsula up to adelaide.

there's also some other mildly interesting roads between syd and melb :)

hope you've got a few days to do it, it certainly beats the hume :))

    cheers
    pete

Google up the report of my trip to Mildura for the Wintersun, that covers
    the worst of it :)
