    I found that clip!

It was in the bitzanbobz tray after all. Odd.

Progress was halted by a need to fettle the Blackbird's clutch slave
cylinder which had gone all to pot once more.[1]

A quick strip, clean and fill/bleed took the thick end of an hour,
then I had to go shopping for Madam.[2]

Then fitted the pad retaining clip, secured the new brake lines to
their clips, and refitted the battery box.

This was a slightly more awkward job than expected[3], but success was
achieved without breaking anything, or drawing blood.

Then I had to refit the fluid reservoir, main fuse, battery, master
    cylinder, heat shields.

So, a slow, but undisastrous day.

It's all getting there, but slowly.

.... and I've just won a new shiny electrical thing to bolt on, too.

[1] I think I've twigged the cause. Jetwashing the area around the
sprocket forces water and chain lube up through the drain hole under
the slave cylinder, which then makes the slave piston all manky.

[2] Baking supplies, for Children in need. Which is why I am freezing.
If it gets warm, the cakes will go stale, or summat.

    [3] I'm a slow learner.

Sounds good. I found my marbles again.

Jetwashes are evil things that shouldn't be used on motorcycles.

    I have standards, y'know.

    A brake switch box.

Four switch chrome box wot fits on top of the brake reservoir.

Ideal for all kinds of electrical switchery.

    The switches light up, too.

All I've got to do now, is work ou what do connectthem too.

    1: Spotlamps
    2: Heated grips.
    3: Something else.
4: Definitely not a set of red or blue neons to go behind the radiator
    grille. Oh no. As if.

Well. Yes. But nonetheless, they are recognisably standards.

    If you squint a bit.

With your head on one side.

    From a distance.

I'd always thought I could resist the magpie effect. I mean, I put a
chrome ignition lock surround on, just to shut up the members of the
GWOCGB, and I thought I had it under control.

Then I thought: a pair of discreet little pannier lights, what harm
    can it do?

The same with the top box lights.

    and the fairing lights.

    and the cigar lighter switchbox

    and the vanity mirror,

    cubby dividers

    extra rear lights.

I've currently got Rings of Fire, a new light rail for the rear (that
was #3 for the switches - gonna wire 'em in as fogs) then the
spotlamps, and now this switch box, and I don't feel like I'm in
    control any more.

    <sotto voce>

    Help. Me.
    Oh dear.

You'll be flogging your arse for LEDs and chrome before the year's out.

"Now, Dodger was a good straight boy to begin with, but there was bad blood
in him someway and he got into the chrome and the lights and that leads
straight to glitter balls and metalflake, just like marywanna leads to
heroin. You think you can take them LEDs or leave 'em, do you? Just buy a
few for your bad days. Well, now we all have those bad days when you can't
shine for shit. The more of that chrome you buy, the more bad days you have
without it. So it comes down finally to all your days being bad without the
bling. It's disco or nothing. Time to stop chippying around and kidding
yourself. Kid, you're hooked. Heavy as lead."

Well, it still *looks* standard (ish) at the moment.

Aargh. Why did I put "at the moment" in there?
I think I can still make it if I jump for the quayside.
