On my pal's '81 GL1100 Interstate, the instrument cluster includes a voltage
regulator that supplies +7v for the fuel and temp gauges. This one is bad.
Before we fork over $100 for a new one, I want to see if the old one might
    be repairable/rebuildable.

One question, though -- does anyone know how much current this regulator
    needs to source?

    Thanks,

  2. You really want the caps, etc. It is quite common for regulators to
oscillate if one did not have bypass caps, etc around them.
