Good news (for me at least)

I spent some time today at the Eye Clinic at the local hospital and I
don't have to have an eye operation. I'll be having 15 prisms
incorporated into the lenses of my new specs in three months time
though. If my requirement had been anything over 20 prisms, then I'd
have been under the knife for an operation with a 50-50 chance of
success or total failure, and no chance of another one. I guess I'd
rather have prisms than take a chance on having eyesight worse than I
    started with.

    Or no eyesight at all!

If your new specs are more "prismed" than the one's you got now they'll
be well groovy. CIHAGM when I've a drink or six?

Oh, and good news about the eye.

You won't be able to see the prisms if they are in the lenses. I have
this Fresnel lens as an experiment to see how many prisms I need. Once
they've determined that, which they did today, and made sure the
prescription is stable for three months, then I get proper ones
    incorporated into the lenses.
    Ta, I think.

So the ones you have now are experimental? It's actually a really good
thing they set you up properly and now you've got a spare pair. I don't
suppose a prescription of those proportions can be cheap?[1]
Yes, you don't really want scalpels in the eye ball, do you, mister?

    [1] Rhetorical question.

I take it that these glasses still allow you to ride, or are they for
reading? My Grandfather had to have two eye operations (One on each
    eye) about a month apart...

You must be relieved, good luck with the fitting.

Having this lens has been a revelation. I can actually see things in 3D
now, as opposed to what looked like an animated flat photograph getting
closer as I moved towards it.

No chance. You don't think they actually *talk* do you? At the new
PixieCentral there's a CAT5 cable running from the living room window to
    one of the bedroom windows.

    A *purple* CAT 5 cable.
