Good news you don't have to go under the knife.

Its good to see you very happy having real "depth perception" and 3D
vision at last, floating computer text and all...

  12. I had something similar a few years ago but without the nerve damage so they
could fix it in one op. I also had two cuts in one eye rather than one in
    each.

    The procedure went :-

Main operation under general anaesthetic but stitches not to be tightened
until they could check that they'd made the right adjustment.

Wait about 4 hours until the anaesthetic had worn of and they could give me
an eye test. No pain killers allowed during this time either - I was just
lying in the bed going "Ow, ow, fucking ow".

After the eye test it was back down to theatre to have the stitches
tightened. Only thing was, they don't like putting people under general
anaesthetic twice in the same day so they tightened the stitches having
given me anaesthetic eye drops (which were very good - it didn't hurt at
all). The really weird bit was watching the surgeon tighten the stitches in
    the eye through that eye!

Afterwards, it hurt a lot for two days then, for about a week, it felt like
I had a big eyelash in my eye until the stitches had dissolved. For
convalescence I had to look long distances as much as possible so minimal
    reading/TV/computer for the next month.

It was scary at the time [1] but I'm really glad I had it done. Whilst I was
convalescing, I was throwing a ball against a wall and catching it for
something to do (I was very bored) and I realised that I hadn't been able
to do that for at least 10 years.

I'm glad you can get away with lenses though. Multiple operations on both
    eyes would be much scarier.

[1] Eye operations seem to be more worrying that other operations for some
    reason.

  13. And yet, curiously, they were among the first operations to be done in
    pre-history.

Ahh yes I know a few ppl who have had this operation. It does sound a
lot worse that it is though.

I've just had the last of the stitches taken out of my eye, been in
since last October. My vision then dropped to very bad within 4 days
so I might need a lens changing operation in Morefields in London now
    :( Went for a nice manageable -2 to a problem -6 astigmatism.

I also can't have any other work done to the cornea or anything as the
eye wall is now to thin to take it.

Hope all goes well for you I know how un nerving it is when they talk
about your eye sight. I was on a white stick for 4 months it's scary
    stuff.
