    Steady on old bean. I've seen what carbon addiction can do to MV
    owners, & it isn't a pretty sight watching them delving around in old
    bins looking for enough spare change for another fix.

    Don't waste lots of expensive goodies on streetbikes, you know it will
    get trashed or stolen.

    Anyway, Bear decreed that underseat exhausts are Hom excepting 996's, as
    you very well know

    That model, as you probably know, didn't come with underseat exhausts
    from the factory but whatever you think of USE, that bike looks fucking
    awesome (imho, of course)

    I am in the market for a road/race can though and the only ones I've
    seen that look halfway decent are the carbon variety.

    I do actually like the look of the standard can so I might (but probably
    won't) take a drill to the rivets and remove the baffle(s) that way.

    I really like carbon wheels but I know I'd break them within a year
    and after 6 months they'd be covered in chain lube and road grime so
    it'd be pointless.

    I think it's actually worth more than the GSXR... Need to collate the
    receipts, actually, for the insurance.
    Yes. Because the clamp for the saddle is directly in-line with the
    post, they kink the post to put the saddle back in the right place.
    Yes. For the marathons I wanted a full suspension bike for comfort,
    but one that was very efficient. This has a clever inertial damper in
    the rear shock that works out how bumpy the ground is and changes the
    shock damping. Effectively it rides like a rigid bike on the road and
    yet on bumpy ground you get 4 inches of suspension travel. Works
    beautifully.

    It is, isn't it? I keep stopping and staring at it whenever I go into
    the garage.
    In winter trim it's coming in at 26lbs. With summer tyres on and the
    new pedals I'm about to buy, it'll be 24.5lb.

    Heavy compared with road bikes, but bloody light for a full suspension
    mountain bike.

    If I wanted I could take off the hydraulic discs and run normal brakes
    and save another pound. Personally, I prefer shit-hot brakes.
    Lots. Total spend is somewhere in the region of 3.3k. Worth every
    last penny though.

    When I was in the bike shop the other day they had one of these in:

    It weighs in at nearly 50lbs and is pretty much a motorcross bike
    without an engine.

    In fact, it's probably got more suspension travel.
