Oi! Don't send him *my* fucking way. Wouldn't he prefer to go somewhere to the West where punishment beatings are more normal....? Dave
You realise that if they as a favour, at some later date, the consequences of refusal could be.....unpleasant? But you already knew that, didn't you?
Not at all. It indicates that the bike was found with some people and those people had their limbs broken. Are you confident that all (because it said "limbs" and not "limb") people who had a limb broken were involved in the theft? I'm not (although to be honest I'm sceptical if anyone had limbs broken but that's just me)
I said "sceptical", which means I have some doubt- it doesn't mean I *know* it didn't happen. My 'problem' is that I don't like vigilantes, violence or the glorification of violence so whether the assaults really took place or not is a moot point, I feel minded to challenge the mentality that supports these acts of violence. Of course this is really easy for me to do when it's not my bike that's been fucked with. If it were my bike I suspect I'd be all for attacking the people that fucked with it, however I would hope I'd regret it afterwards. Before you shout "hypocrite", just look back in the thread to where this all started- I deliberately didn't follow up to you (since I don't expect you to be rational about this, you're not independent of the issue), I followed up to TOG.
I'd have had a bit more respect for you if you'd done the recovery work yourself, or at least gone along to join in, rather than getting someone else to deal out the slaps then bragging about it. I'm all for kicking bike thieves around a bit but I don't condone getting others to act as vigilantes.
It's in the context of exagerrating, I've no doubt that the bike was recovered. I wouldn't be surprised if violence was threatened and even if there was some limited physical violence. However, if arms were broken etc. I would be most surprised if someone would be talking about it. Still, fortunately this is removed from my personal experience so I could well be completely wrong.
