Got out today!!!

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Paul Carmichael, Nov 13, 2004.

  1. And a lovely day it was too. Bit chilly to start, but nice and sunny.
Jeans and paddock jacket seemed appropriate for a little jaunt around
the lake. I never knew how much difference low tyre pressures could
make. Front tyre was down to 20psi. It felt lethal. Couldn't steer the
damned thing. Up to 38 and it was fine.

6 or so months out of the saddle, is not to be recommended. Felt like
I'd never ridden before. Glad there were no mopeds around, else they'd
    have passed me.

    Might go out again tommorow.

Got to go to a party tonight. Don't want to go, 'cause all the brits are
    going to be there.

Ah well. Must go and water my swedes now.

    Bye now.

I did over 120 miles on the 250 today, it got me back home and did 64mpg
    too.

  4. I've done nearly 1,000 in the van this week :-\

I must go out on my bike more. I was getting a bit too used to just
going out and knew I was in trouble when putting my quilted trousers on
and it felt restrictive. Still, a good caning down the J8 sliproad onto
the M11 sorted that out :)

    You doing anything next week?

    Easily done init?
I blipped the FZR up into 5 figure rpms a few times on the way back, but
kept the rpm down to keep the fuel bill down mostly.
Nothing planned so far. I've got to wait for the finances to settle a
bit before I do much more though.

  6. Too easy.
I can come down to yours if you're skint.

Hmm, Settle a bit? You mean hit rock bottom?

BTW, you don't have a pop rivet gun handy do you?

That would be good, but you're a dole mole too. I may have another
granny cake or two by then. There's Tesco for Pizza too.
I need to try to shave down the expenses a lot. Tax/Mot for the 250 +
petrol has pretty much wiped me out this month.
    Afraid not mate.

  8. Cool. I've got a bit of cash left but it isn't long for this world.

I got the shock of the week on Friday night: Large 'special' from
Dominos, 6 chicken dipper things, bottle of coke, garlic bread and a
    500ml tub of Hagan Daaz - £28.76!
It is better you did that now while you still have the money. You've got
a year till you need to worry about it again.
Bum. You got a car breakers nearby?

    Mmmm.. food.

Heck.. That reminds me, I bought a chain and sprocket kit + oil and
filter for it too. No wonder I'm skint, and with a credit card bill yet
    to pay. :/
True. With luck, the bike will last out the year too. My CG125 needs an
MOT in the next month or two too.
There's one I know of in Hailsham.

  10. Get yourself another card and transfer the balance. You can do that
every month and you'll end up in all sorts of shit in no time ;o)
That's only £15 or so if nothing needs doing. If the worst comes to the
worst, you'll get more for it with a ticket on it.
I know them. Ripley's innit? I bought a Fuego engine from there donkey's
    years ago.

I'd sooner sell something if I can't pay off the card.
True. I'd not sell the CG125 anyway, it's way too useful. I'd think that
the 250 and 600 would go before that. I'd sell everything else before I
    considered letting a bike go.
Yep, got stuff from there myself in the past. I've got tools here, if
you need something to get the bits you want.

  13. Blah blah.

I dunno. I start a thread expecting "Well done Paul, for getting your
bike re-registered, ITVd, taxed and insured, and what do I get? The
fucking Muck and Whinging Show. Oh, and by the way, the swedes are doing
    great.

  14. I was going to do a bodge with a pop rivet gun and an old for sale board
but since you don't have the thing of pop, it'll be cheaper to buy the
    right bit from a breakers.[1]

Don't be such a twat. All you need is a bit of old car tyre and some
gubile clips, like Elly's rat has.

  17. 'Tis for the SOV :-(

There is a liner missing on the n/s/f and all the shite and spray is
going straight into the engine compartment. There's always gaffer tape I
suppose: it just has to stop the worst of it.

Are those made of metal or plastic liners? You'll still need a pop rivet
gun though, which I'm sure Halfords will have.
