Anybody know what they mean by "watered down"? What happened? I
thought we won. From this mornings Chronicle.

Shifting gears: Supervisor Matt Gonzalez's bill asking
the Department of Parking and Traffic to "deprioritize"
enforcement of the law prohibiting parking on
sidewalks when it comes to motorcycles and
scooters was watered down at the board this week,
after pedestrian and senior groups protested. The
compromise plan calls on the Department of Parking
and Traffic to develop more legal parking options for
    the motorized two-wheelers.

What the city ticketing practices do to RUIN business is the real issue...
and with that addressed the business men will respond favorably in most
    cases.

Currently I dont eat out in SF nearly as much as I used to because of the
ticketing liability...I stay in Marin or pass though the city to eat
    elsewhere, same with shopping.

    I rant on extensively below...

More parking will not happen...but regardless the meter maids may have been
directed to lighten up a bit anyway if the bike is not clearly an
    obstruction.

    Time will tell.

With the city in dire straights for money though, and mandaating last summer
that parking enforcement be goose up by 40,000 tickets a month... we will
    see.

Next the merchants will be paying less tax ...as store traffic in the city
declines and begfor the city not to ticket thier customers.

SF will only get a clue *after it has once again driven small business from
the city and the wino's are peeing in the boarded up door ways....and
building tent cities out of shopping carts and tarps on market street...

then there will be a campaign to bring people back ..alas...many just booked
    for the burbs...whorehouse and all.

    poooof gone.

then in order that the burocrats can still enjoy thier full retirement and
lifetime medical care, traffic and parking tickets will have to go up to
$500 a shot.... Currently the city has gone to suprise sunday
enforcement...that should have ripped off another 3 million dollars.
    Impressive.

Maybe they will take to seizing and selling vehicles next... No problem.
The corporations still operating in the city here that crap from thier
employees and simply chose another place to expand.

realestate will at least become affordable.

Do you know many tax payers it takes to fund just a single city employee
    retirement? at an average around $6,000 a month...thats $72,000 a year
per retireee ..with medical, dental etc.... Maybe 10,000 tax payers per
each. But there are not that many citizens so the rest comes from a hard
pressed business community..that is leaving in droves.

Pressing the parking issue needs to be done in the larger context....or it
wont fly. Its not just parking, its what the rip off tickets do to ruin
    business.

thats the issue...that will get most merchants support...well the ones that
    want customers at least.

Here's what I got from SFMSC:

    1) SIDEWALK PARKING RESOLUTION UPDATE - IMPORTANT INFO

Here are several links that will update you on the sidewalk parking
resolution. The supervisor's passed a resolution, but it was not what we
wanted and it is not the one we put forward. Here are the details:

Article to appear in City Bike describing the situation:
    http://www.sfmsc.org/cityBike_resArticle.html

    Resolution that passed:
    http://www.sfmsc.org/passedResolution.html

    New resolution introduced:
    http://www.sfmsc.org/MCParkingRes_B.html

Please use the following email form to urge the supervisors to pass the new
resolution that has been introduced. It is critical that we let them know
we are still here and we demand a solution to this problem.
