Well I was planning a quiet day at home for my last day of annual leave. That was until my dear wife e-mailed me and said "Go for a
    ride to the Black Spur".

    Who am I to argue?!

So off I went, heading for the Dandenong ranges first. Cruised up to Emerald and topped up, just in time as I heard the servo staff
calling out to each other "It's gotta go up again!"

From there I headed towards Cockatoo and turned off to go to Woori Yallock. Had a good run through the fast sweepers, and noticed
how few cars there were about. Things were looking good already!

Warburton bound from there, and on to the Reefton Spur. And that's where things got interesting.

We have had some decent storms a couple of weeks ago, and they had left the Reefton in a very *very* poor state. Bark and twigs all
over the road. Fallen trees which had been across the road had been cut up and the sawdust and woodchips remained all over the road.
Add that to the patches of moss here and there and it was a case of tip-toeing up the mountain. Despite taking it easy, my front
wheel did break traction mid corner for a brief moment when it hit some moss. Talk about pucker factor!

Arrived in Marysville and had a great lunch whilst watching an extremely mangy looking cockatoo in the tree over the road. His head
was almost completely bald, and he sat in the tree screeching at the kids nearby that were looking at him.

After lunch I headed for the Black Spur. What a contrast! Clean road, tonnes of grip, predictable corners. I was in heaven! It's
such a shame that Spur isn't longer, and it confirmed today why it's my favourite stretch of road.

Filled up again in Healesville, again just as they got word to raise the fuel prices. This day was just meant to be!

Turned off the Maroondah Hwy to head once again for Woori Yallock and then back the way I had come through Emerald and then home.

And the best bit? I didn't come across any cars until the end of the Black Spur as I got to Healesville. Well OK, there was one car
on the Reefton, but he was heading in the opposite direction. That doesn't count! Gawd I love mid-week rides.

I know that bit. Not a spot I'd like to stop and take photos.

    "I'm an individual"

Geeze Dale, you stop a lot.

I keep taking the camera away with me on rides, and all I ever come home
with is a couple of pics at the starting point and a handful of
out-of-focus snaps of drunks sitting around a campfire
(or doing cartwheels on the lawn to prove they're not drunk.)

I'll take it up to Dargo tomorrow. Hope I don't get too many shots of
    snow.....

Lying on your back, spreadeagled, on the lawn is *not* a cartwheel.

GB, but the real giveaway is the bit where they're lying down *and*
    holding on.

Yeah that spot was awkward to find somewhere with enough room to park the bike without it being clobbered.
Yup. Life of Brian was going through my head when I saw that tree.
Most of the stops for pics were a matter of riding along, spotting something I wanted to take a pic of, keep going for a while, then
turn back to take the pic. That way I just had to travel some decent corners at least 3 times! :)

    Lovely pics Dale (lucky bastard!)
What's with the parrots? A man rides a bike to get AWAY from the squawking
    birds!
