you can't get the CA any other way than doing the CA Course (formerly PY)

After this - they were looking at me doing masters - and I gave them the
    finger and said "nuh-uh"

    :)

Oh yeah - that's funny..... I'm not low enough to do a three year
multiple guess "degree" actually I don't even know if they come out with
a degree at the end of theirs - or just a certificate - I must ask the
    CPA's at work... :)

I had to ask my CPA about Payroll Tax. He said 'No idea, but there's a
    gov't website somewhere'.

What a rip-off that is. When your payroll exceeds $750K (in WA) you
have to pay 6% on the excess to the State Govt. Our payroll was $749K,
but you have to add the compulsory Super you paid for your employees
to your gross payroll, another $57K. Bummer. Then you have to apply to
pay payroll tax. A ten page form detailing your payroll for the last
eight years. Just as well you only have to keep records for 5 years,
    eh?

We give our staff a CPI payrise each July, this year about 2.5%. That
will be $18K for the staff, of which they will pay around $7K to the
Fed Gov't in income tax, we pay $1.7K for Super, and $1.2K for the
    State Gov't. Staff get $11K, Gov't gets $11.5K.

I don't follow your maths. Why are you giving their super to the government?
