Yep the Gillies is a great ride on a bike.

Here is a video if you are interested, I found it on the net, not me riding
    of course.

Of course, saying "Yep, the Ninja" means very little when talking about a model of Kawasaki. Just about every model in their range
has had the Ninja tag slapped onto it at some stage (even the GPX250 is called Ninja in the U.S.).

  8. Yair, the Gillies is great. Kuranda range road is good when the traffic
is light, the Rex Range is ok until about three quarters the way up due
to the rippled bitumen from the B doubles.

Have you ridden the Palmerston recently? I was thinking of doing a spin
up the Gillies and down the Palmerston if next weekend is fine. I
would have done it Sunday last but my Ninja was in for a bit of service
    work. Buggar.

    cheers

    Percy... XR250 -> Across 250 -> ZRX1100 -> NinjaZX12r -> NinjaZX12R &
next bike? A Ninja ZX12R of course!!

Going up there myself soon but I'll be working weekends the next few
weeks so it'll be during the week.

  10. Well it was asked if it was the 1200 cc, here are the full details

My motorcycle is a Kawasaki Ninja model ZX12R, it is a 2002 model (year)
and 1200 cc, and is very dark red in colour, so dark it actually looks
    black.

I have had no problems with it, and had it a couple of years.

I am told it should do around 300 kph, but I have not taken it above 195,
and I doubt if I ever will.

The pickup is terrific, and it is nice to know that when you wind on the
    throttle something happens.

As opposed to all the non-"Ninja" Kawasaki sports-bikes in the last 25
    years!

What's really going to boil your noodle is that even though I don't read the newsgroup as often or as thoroughly as I used to, I
still beat you to it. :)

Nah, I remember it very well. I felt quite overdressed when I last did it
and the memories of people pulling aside! Wow. Made a great ride
    unforgettable.

The "wee" hours? Can you narrow that down a bit?
You're talking to a man who's approaching 50 here Dale; the "wee" hours are
    generally 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, 5am etc etc.....

A pig walks into the bar and asks for a jug of XXXX. He drank it all then
asked the barman where the bathroom is. Barman replies "down the hall and to
    the left".

Another pig walks into the bar and orders 2 jugs of XXXX. He finishes them
off and then asks where the bathroom is. The barman replies "down the hall
    and to the left".

Another pig walks into the bar and orders 3 jugs of XXXX. Finishing them off
he was just going to stand up when the barman asks him "well aren't you
going to ask where the bathroom is?" The pig replies " no, i am going to go
wee wee wee all the way home."
