Gremlins are eating bits of my posts....

This has been happening for several days now - entire slabs of text -
sometimes just a few words, sometimes an entire sentence or paragraph - are
missing from my emails and usenet posts. I'm usually a pretty careful
editor, so I'm appalled by the apparent illiteracy of some of my stuff!!!

Cooeeee, ausmoto geeks - is there any techie explanation for this sort of
    e-behaviour?

    cheers
    betty, prepared for bad news

This a fairly common occurence and is not overly difficult to fix. Here's
    how you do it:

First, open the last e-mail you were working on and
    press CTRL +
simultaneously. The following error message will appear on the screen "Are
    you sure
    select to continue

    Alternatively

    hope that helps you out.....

    [shocked face]
EXACTLY the same thing is happening to me except that it's just the
intelligent bits that have disappeared between when I send and when I read
it again sober the next morning!

Are you using the god awful Outlook (express) or something decent ?
Be interesting to see if you have the same dilemma using your ISP's web
mail interface if one exists (ie sending mail from a browser).

Is it every post or just intermittent ?

Been working fine for me for the last 13 years, except that it puts in
spelling errors that aren't there in the proof-reading but turn up after
    posting.

    To quote the old adage : "That's not a bug, it's a feature !"

Have you tried Thunderbird (or dodgy alert) Incredimail ? Just curious.
I find TB puts less errors in than OE.

The only advantage I can find for OE over Thunderbird is searching the
through the content of messages which doesn't appear to be possible in
    Thunderbird. Yet.

Not sure if Beagle can do it on my linux box but I wouldn't be
surprised. I wish Windows had Beagle...

Not intentionally sounding smartarse .. but the search bar has among the
options on the drop down, 'entire message'. It finds text within the
body which is what I figure you mean ?

I note with some dismay it didn't appear to find matches in the
newsgroup posts though, even with storing them locally.. for instance
    'crazycam' garnered 0 matches. Odd.

You're a legend! Never noticed that fuckin' thing sitting up there on
the top right corner. I used to go Edit - Find > Search Messages...

Works a treat in newsgroups too. Should I find myself in your neck of
the woods, the Coopers are on me...

Glad to help - I only thunked to check it recently, after using 'add to
search bar' in Firefox so don't feel bad
