I went to have a look at getting my ground anchor out yesterday. I
anticipated much use of the crowbar, heaving and swearing. In the end the
ball bearings in the heads of the allen bolts pinged out with the point of a
penknife. P'raps I should have belted them in a bit deeper...

  2. You could market a quick-release ground anchor for people who move house a
    lot.

Nah, if you'd done that, you'd still be sitting staring at it.

Good idea - how about a portable ground-anchor? One that's small and
light enough to be easy to carry on a bike, so that you could have a
ground-anchor wherever you went. Perhaps it could be attached to the
ground by suction cups or double-sided sticky tape.

Well, you may never know how useful it was as a deterrent....
