Between all the SPAM, politic messages, and cross-posts, the group has
really gone downhill lately for those of us that want to talk bikes.

    :-(

BTW - the politic message is not a dig at anyone. It's just not
something I care to participate in on the group.

Anyone care about bikes anymore? Has anyone asked Santa for anything
cool for their bike? Or a new bike? Anybody? Beuler? Beuler?
    Beuler?

Bling! is looking for a new bike. He has finally decided to go with a
v-twin after demo riding a few of the others. Now he just has to
figure out which one he wants. I let him ride mine again, yesterday,
for about 20 mins. He also really liked the SV1000.....which is why
he wanted to ride mine again as a comparison.

I got me a set of Spiegler steel braided lines coming in, but that's
about it. I've done a little riding here and there while the weather
is nice. Nothing like going to the mall and weaving through the
traffic and parking the som'bitch right on the sidewalk and walking in
while all the cagers are trying to find a spot and staring at you with
either the "I wish I had one" look or the "That g**amned
    motherf**ker!"

LOL.. go for it Fullstate.. you got the floor, my friend.. You are free to
post anything you wish, about anything you wish.. As the Grand Wizardly
Moderator of the tx.motorcycle newsgroup, duly elected and solemnly sworn

Besides all that, being a friend of mine, I would give you that same support
and endorsement even without the benefit of my exalted position of office...
Keep 'em rolling, my friend and don't let the cagers hem you up on the
    slab..

I'm not Beuler, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. :)

I'm hoping for either some slip-on mufflers, or Wild1 handlebars for my
bike. I know I'm getting some chaps. Of course, the problem with chaps
is knowing how to get the crease *just* right. :)

hehe....appreciate it. It's just one of those things.....

I'm not into digging into the politics on here.

And cross posting with "bambi" that doesn't even read this group is a
waste of time as I don't cross-post to the other groups. I get on
and there is 20 new messages.....(btw - I saw one of you sorry
bastards digging me on one of those).

    anyway....

What are Wild1 handlebars? Are those similar to ape hangers? Must be
    a cruiser thing. ;-)

There is a crease in the chaps? I thought you got the kind that
didn't have any ass to them. That way, they looked great, but were
    completely non-funtional in a slide.

Yeah, it can be. A while back we had some discussions about that on
here. A lot of people were pissed off and going to ignore the group
or set up filters, blah blah blah.

I had decided that while I may not care to participate in some of the
discussions, it was still bikers talking about things that were
    important to them.

If you go on a ride with a bunch of people, and then you stop to fill
up and have a drink / smoke break, does that mean that nobody is
allowed to talk about anything except motorcycles?

That was sort of the way I looked at it. You don't want to read about
it, don't read it. Nobody is twisting my arm behind my back to
    participate.

This thread - for me - was just because the last few times I been on
to check things out I wasn't happy with where things were going. So,
trying to change that just a tad.

The lift will be slick! Spools and rear-stand were one of the first
things I got for my bike. I need to get a front stand, but after
brake / clutch lines it will just have to wait a bit longer. Only
time I need it is to drop my front tire anyway and that isn't that
    often.

I didn't even know Sears carried motorcycle stands. I guess they
realize there is a huge market out there.

can Joe fabricate his own pegs or will he have someone else do it
    after he designs it?
Depends on where I am. Out at the Parks Mall, there is a big covered
parking area by the food court. It's always packed. However, they
have these large drain pipes and structural supports that are all over
the place. One of them is right up front....it's not a sidewalk, and
it's not a parking space. It IS big enough for one bike to squeeze in
and that is where I park it. I don't want to piss people off so bad
that they key my bike or kick it over or something.

I try to just avoid places like that all together anyway. But, if
it's a shopping center like Best Buy and the place is packed? ****
it, it's going on the sidewalk.

I accepted and respected you criticism concerning the OT posts concerning
political affairs.. I have stated many times that political influence
affects every day of our lives whether or not we ride motorcycles.. I will
voice my opinion and my views about the politics that affect us all, in any
forum available to me, this newsgroup included.. Your offense to these
postings and their responses have been noted and respected by me.. In most
cases I will head my posts with an indicator of the content.. Thereby
alerting everyone about that content.. I will fight to the death defending
the right of anyone being forced to read anything that is disagreeable to
them.. You know me personally and can attest to the credibility of that
statement.. Some of the other threads which you have been engaged in are as
offensive to me as the political ones are to you..I defend your right to
engage in those discussions as silly as I feel that they truly are.. If you
want to go shopping.. you should do so.. why should I be exposed to the
details of your shopping trip ? You want to socialize in a tea party .. I
defend you right to do that.. Why should I be forced to listen to the
details of who wore what and who was present ?? This isn't the first time we
have had this discussion on here and in person, so these views are know to
you as yours are to me..In light of our friendship, I am offended when you
post your critical opinions of other posts and responses.. I don't expect
anyone living or dead, on this newsgroup or off, to agree with me on some of
the issues which concern me..I don't agree with every issue of my friends on
issues which concern them.. I will however defend my right to those issues
and I will defend my friends right to his..All this being said, I hope my
views are as respected as well as yours.. See you on the road, my friend..

I'm still looking for a helmet that will break the wind noise from my
earbuds so I might listen to tunes. Right now, I can listen without
all the hassles of skipping and jarring around (like I had with the CD
player) but I have to CRANK it up to hear it good....and that can't be
    good.

I just can't find a helmet that I like which will be in my price range
and still be comfortable to wear. I scrapped the 128k bitrate encoding
and went with 64k bitrate until I can get a couple SD cards (another
hint to anyone who has a couple laying around) to hold more music. I
can now get two CDs on the player...WHOO-HOO!

Kind of a cruiser thing. They're not apehangers, but rather a little
wider, with more pullback than stock.
I guess the only ass in my chaps will be mine. The crease thing is a
running joke about people with more money than sense. And you are
correct, sliding on your ass in chaps is no better than jeans.

If I could adapt my Sayed racing leathers to a more comfortable position
for riding my Fatboy, I would be very well protected. Except they're
white/blue/neon yellow, and that would be a little "off" IMO.

    Bill -

WAY too much coffee today, bud! I didn't say I was offended
by the political posts. I just said I didn't care to participate in
them. You have probably already read another post by me where I
defend anyone's "right" to post whatever they like so long as they are
    riding a bike. ;-)

You should have gone to the show and gotten some custom plugs with the
speakers in them. but NOOOOO....don't listen to me. I obviously
don't know what I am talking about. ;-)

They really are nice for those longer rides, tunes or no tunes.

I have a pretty good idea of what you are talking about, then. I used
to have a cruiser, and to a large degree, I still like them. I just
    don't want to ride them.
must be why I didn't get the joke.... LOL I definitely don't fall
into that category, though I wish I did.
Yeah, they might like a bit out of place if you are on your Fatboy.
;-) You could get some of those "draggin jeans" or something. That
    might help.

Speaking of.....I was up at Pep Boys earlier. They had one for $59.00
I do believe it was. Seemed like a decent jack, too. I don't have a
use for one, but since some of y'all are interested......

I've got a detachable luggage rack that I need to put on my bike. More
    chrome just can't be wrong.
The only problem is that I will need to add a mounting kit that replaces the
    rear turn signal spindles.
I'm not looking forward to having to cut the wiring to install them, and I
can't say I really like the look of it either.

I SHOULD have done it before taking that lil jaunt to Florida I did a couple
of weeks ago. Seems that the tail bag
I used rubbed a bit of the paint on the rear fender away. I think there must
have been an exposed zipper underneath.
It's getting less and less gucci every day.

Oh well, I'll just cover it up with duct tape!

Yeah, there was a guy on rec.motorcycles.harley named Bighead that posted a
picture of himself, on his bike, in chaps that
still had the crease from the packaging indicating that he never even used
the damn things....except to pose while having his
    picture taken.

Price is right. I wonder how inexpensive it has to get before it's cheap.
Guess a stable platform and a good way to secure the bike are the minimum
requirements, plus enough load capacity for the given bike.

Here it is... says it has a 1500 lb capacity. They don't show any tiedowns,
so they might have to be purchased separately.

    oh, I listen to you....but you're talking about a "budget" here. I
can't afford $150 for a pair of earbuds. If we could find something a
little less pricy and able to get into where I'm looking for, I'll
    jump on it.

AND I'M STILL NEEDING AN SD CARD (or two) FOLKS!!!!
