My mates got a K3 thou. On the ride today the oil light starting to come on
& the bike was misfiring. The light started flashing faster, then slow.
Turned it off & back on again fine. Oil levels fine.

    Any ideas?

  2. He hadn't recently jetwashed it, had he?

And is it an oil level light, or a pressure light?

No, he's not into cleaning it. ISTR it's a pressure light. I reckon it's
prolly a sebsor gone tits up, but the misfire?

  4. You don't have a sensor as such for oil pressure lights: just a simple
    old pressure switch.

Quite possibly unrelated. I dunno. Unless Suzuki have built some clever
electronics in which cuts the engine the moment the oil light comes on,
to prevent damage. That wouldn't surprise me.

If it does it again, tell him to stick another oil pressure switch on
it. If it doesn't, no worries.

My 600 did that a couple years back on a track day - turns out if you
overrev it, the bike goes into a maintenance mode [1].

You have to stop, turn off the ignition and then back on to reset it.

[1] Probably not called that, but you get my drift.

It's done it a few times. Odd that if you turn the bike off then on again
it'f fine for ages. Can't be a fucked oil pump or engine wear as that would
    be more obvious.

You might be right about the OPS. He's good with a spanner, i'll tell him to
    change it.

BTW, the Aprilia is a fucking lovely handling bike. I'm used to the BMW
thats about as quick to turn in as a raver on 10 e's. I found myself taking
lines i would have on the beemer & correcting like ****. It just wants to
dive into the corners & **** off quick out of em.

  8. IIRC, on my V-Strom, the light is a general trouble light. It covers
    oil, temp and FI.

It may be the same for all Suzukis.

The ability to make 10 steering corrections in a 90 degree right hander had
me laughing like ****. the handling is just uber good. It can lift the front
    after 4k for fun :)
