I'm going to buy a new bike.

I thought the insurance on the 600 or 750 would be a little bit easier to
    bare than the 1000.

There is a picture on the Suzuki website of a very nice looking 20th
    anniversary GSXR750

If I was going to go for the 1000 the next question is should I consider the
    aRse 1 and the fireplace?

If uou're made of money buy a new bike, but I get the feeling that Sir
hasn't read the recent stuff from TOG et al about possible bike values
    plummetting etc...

Why not get a year old 750 and save £3000?

  5. Sir has hit nail on head, except that you're unlikely to save as much as
that - 750 residuals are very, very strong.

But yes, if it has to be new, make it the 750 rather than the 600 (for
    *everything*) and shop around.

Why when you can buy a brand new GSXR1000 for 6700 quid. I've seen them
all over the place at that price. As TOG said, at that kind of money
they make sense. The saving will more than cover the additional
    insurance premium.

Speaking from experience there is little difference in insurance
prices between the 750 and the 1000. There is only one insurance
group in it. I think my Thou cost about 50 quid a year more to insure
    than a similar age 750.

Oddly, I'm pondering going back to a 750. The difference in
performance between the new 750 and Thou is that little I'm wondering
    whether it's worth it.

Nah, sod it, I'm keeping my Thou until it dies[1].

[1] Or I get made redundant again.

Sir has hit nail on head, except that you're unlikely to save as much as
I have been ringing around and the best deal I have found so far is York
Suzuki they are doing the 600 for £5500 and the 1000 for £6999 both k4
    models.
    The 750 is £7200 but that is a k5.

I do quite fancy the 20th anniversary 750 but with it being a limited
edition it will probably be silly money with no chance of getting a decent
    deal

Anyone know of any better deals?

  11. I've seen pre-reg 1000s advertised for slightly less, but what you've
found is pretty good. Interesting to hear that the 750 is more expensive
than the 1000 - supply and demand, innit?

    <fx: scribbles furiously>

I'd still go for the 750 myself.

Double R Motorcycles in Leytonstone, London. Quoted me 6700 quid OTR for
a thou about 2 weeks ago, they had plenty of them. I was tempted to get
a loan out for the difference between that and what I'd get for my 9R.
