  1. So got the bike back from Fowlers.

On questioning they disconnected the exup valve since its only function
was to meet the noise regs.

I walked past the bike a couple of times since they'd cleaned it. ****
it looked[1] new. Not bad for a 14,500 mile 8 year old bike. Made the
five hundred quid[2] service cost sting a little less.

[1] Looked in past sense, rained on the way home so it doesn't look
    quite so new now.

[2] Valve clearances. None of which seemingly needed to have shims
changed. Fucking fixed price services; I was robbed!

For me the K1/K2 is a seminal moment in biking history. Other than the
spongy front master cylinder it doesn't have a weak point (that I could
find) or fail to astonish, every single time.

really? all they appear to do is jetwash the bikes, I picked up my R1 from
there with only 2400 miles on the clock
and there was no sign of oil on the chain or any moving parts
All the used bikes in the showroom looked the same
Maybe they've changed the way they do things now?

Or maybe my standards are pretty low...

  5. I took the exup butterfly out of mine and the servo motor that tugs on it.
Saves maybe 2 kg of weight. It is meant to produce backpressure for low down
torque but on a 1000cc bike who cares. There is plenty there to start with.
You have to bridge a wire on the ecu to stop a FI light showing but other than
    that it is pretty easy.
