gsxr -- swap 2001 gauge to a 1998?

    anyone done this? it seems the only wiring difference is a "constant 12v" to
    keep the clock memory; other than that; it's just pin differences.

    I swapped the pins around; but had two problems.
    1) the fuel light remained on
    2) the FI light came on

    other than that - the tach & spedo worked as well as the other indicator lights.

    so you WANT the '98 cluster on a 2001?? why is this? what changed?

    Other way around...

    I want to put a 2001 gauge on a 1998.

    I googled and found a written procedure for rebuilding the GL1100
    water pump. It should include enough detail to give you an idea of
    how much work it is to simply remove and replace the pump.
