Speaking of the dark side, have the fucking Pennines grown to insurmountable
    heights lately?

Well, you say dark side. But let's face it, its a girl's bike, innit?

    :p

Bit lacking in low-end grunt, but whack the throttle open around 8 grand
and the brass section of the devil's own orchestra starts howling behind
you and it launches itself toward the horizon like a Vulcan on scramble.

Bottom end's a bit weak, but it absolutely shits on the 7R. Mental.

    Bit fun aint they?

I rode my daughter's boyfriend's K5 Anniversary model and have to say
it felt almost as fast as my old 1000 K1.

Just about on the topic, anyone know if the forks are interchangeable[1]
    between a 1990 GSX750F and any other GSX750s?

I want to broaden my opportunities for getting a replacement pair on Ebay.

    Thanks

[1] i.e. won't drop out when I set off or stop.

But let's face it, anything with a fairing that fitted, a front end
with real bearings and a fuel system that made even a vague attempt at
matching fuel inlet to requirements would have been an improvement.

    Ooooh!

GSX600F forks should fit, shouldn't they? I'll check the online fiches
    later.

The one thought that's stuck with me since riding it home yesterday is
"what the **** am I going to do with this on the road?" If it wasn't set
to piss down all weekend, I'd have a go at finding out.
    I concur - I'm not going to risk a 4 grand toy on a track, whereas I'd
    happily throw the RGV about.

Hence I now own an SV650S and not a litre-bike, with a CBR600 for track
    use.

The GSXR makes 140 feel slow. The RGV makes 90 feel fast.

Oh FFS, what a load of old nonsense. Seriously, you're not used to
riding a fast bike, as you've been riding an SV.

I don't thnk I've ever opened the throttle full on the thou, but it
regularly screams to the redline in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

And before that the 7R(R?). After which (see my post to Simian up
there ^^^ somewhere) anything would feel fast. But I agree, there are
absolutely loads of opportunities to use all of its power and more on
UK and continemtal roads on a regular basis.

I don't pretend to have been able to maximise its potential, but I
certainly used to use a lot of it on a regular basis, just riding into
    work.
Oh c'mon, you _must_ have. I know that it's not something you'll often
do when you're already at eight and a half thousand rpm, but crack it
FWO at half of that and feel the surge - I'm sure you must have at
    least done that.

Oh, one of the few remaining K3 owners on the group. Any use for a
baglux tank cover/harness and/or a pillion seat pad?

Yeah, I know. My brain needs resetting. As does my concept of speed -
every time I look down at the speedo I'm doing over 130 and it feels
    like half that.

Oh, I'm a big fan of full throttle, especially where it's making full
power, which probably doesn't help the "ooh, this is a bit quick" angle.
I've not had it much over 150 yet, but I've only had it 24 hours.
    There's always time.

That's rather harsh, to be honest. The 7R made about 112 brake and
weighed a bit more, but it had plenty of midrange - something the GSXR
lacks entirely. I'dd be interested to drop it on to the dyno at PDQ and
see how it actually makes power. It's kinda like a two stroke on
steroids - I dread to think how peaky the 600 feels.
You're wasting your time - he's a big fan of his rucksack.

I've opened enough to get what feels like max accelaeration, but to
crack it FWO - not consciously, although you may well be right, I
    probably have.
Got a pillion seat pad. Not a baglux user tbh, and I imagine yours is in
    silver.

Of course, I keep forgetting you're talking about the 750, not a thou.
I'm only saying it so I can imagine his raised eyebrow.
