Happens to me each year after not riding for 4/5 months in winter. After
my first ride I always think, ****, am I allowed to ride that. But a few
blasts and it all comes back.

Black. I never wanted a silver bike, so I took the first opportunity
    to blacken it.

    Kriega. Proper bike rucksack.

    http://www.kriega.com/pages_uk/r35/R35frameset.html

Very comfy, very little weight on the shoulders, all dispersed through
the back. Not cheap mind, but for trips up to 3/4 days, means I can just
get on the bike and not **** around with panniers, tankbags etc.

Seconded, I've been using their 25l rucksack daily since last october
    and it's like new.

I'd also recommend their tool rool - bigger than it looks in the photo
but it sits down between the frame and the inner rear fairing nicely.

Frankly, if I thought I couldn't handle it, I wouldn't have bought it.

But after being bored rigid by the SV, the main goal was to buy
something that would make me have to really engage my brain while riding
rather than trundle along almost on autopilot. The Gixer looks set to
    deliver that in spades.

You should give the RGV a go some time - it's not massively quick, but
    it's a fucking hoot.

I borrowed one of those, absolutely excellent piece of kit. I've never
heard a bad word said about them.

With your back history, I suggest you try it on first. I got mine about
4 years back at the Aprillia Centre, on Commercial Road. Website now
seems to have stopped working for me but I imagine they must have other
    London dealers.

After its first use, the gaps in the seams on the front harness were a
little larger than I had hoped. Spoke to Kriega, sent it back and they
sent me a new one asap.

No, not waterproof unfortunately. You do get a waterproof bag for bits
and bobs, but I just bung stuff in carrier bags.

Interesting, i've never really thoroughly wrung the neck of the 12R
except on the trackday at Mallory, because TBF, the twitchyness of
    it scares me above 140.

The Blackbird on the other hand was thoroughly predictable, and I
regularly redlined it it in the first 3 gears, and had little qualms
with throwing it around in bends (nor locking the rear spectacularly
[1] in front of Dave Cordon). It also saw far more than the above
speed as the bike's smoothness just inspired confidence.

Visceral. I like that. Maybe the roll on on the FJ12 with the new cans
on. It parts the M2 like the red sea.

Quoted at about 125bhp stock for the K6 vs 146bhp for the K4.

It has to be worth a HAGM, for comparison purposes.

The 750 feels light. Very light. Even the RGV doesn't feel as flightly
as the GSXR does. But, that said, the ride on the GSXR is bloody lovely
    - at 140 all it really feels is planted.

I think I've got a couple of weeks before I start to feel at home on it.

    Nuns, watch out.

    I traded up from a 30l Brabantia to a 50l a few years ago. At first, I
wondered "what the **** am I going to put in this", but after a few
weeks it all felt quite reasonable.

    etc.

What sort of man buys not just one but two Brabantias?
I thought they were only bought by women, hoping that their husbands
don't look at the credit card statements too closely.

I had three (the 30l came with a 3l) but gave the smaller ones away on
    Freecycle.
When I brought the 50l home, the mrs was most unimpressed. She hates
"chrome". Fortunately, she is but a poverty-stricken lawyer, so I wear
    the trousers. Haha.

(The woman who collected the 30l bin couldn't believe her luck. Bless.)

Bad form, but since you're only down the road, if you want to take the
smoker for a play, let me know. I'd recommend it to anybody (especially
now I've had the brakes sorted, eh Hog?)

This is the bit where I point out that discussion of the relative merits
of kitchen bins means that you're all PFFs and it was never like this in
    the old days, right?

Yes, the weight is spread across your chest, and not on your back or
    shoulders.

Oi! I fought in seven world wars and fourteen local police actions for
the likes of you, sonny. There's no respect anymore. I blame the
teachers. That Enoch? He was right, wasn't he!? And another... Oh, no...
