GSXR750 mini review

  1. For £150-odd, that looks reasonable. Check the swinging arm isn't
    corroded through (driveshaft tunnel side).

As parts, no, it's worth **** all, because hardly anyone restores
    CX500s.

  2. I *nearly* bought a late[1] one off Gumtree last month.

Italian import, so in bonzer condition, but the frame number didn't
match the logbook. I was sure it was just a DVLA cock-up (it read the
same same as the engine number)(, but I didn't want the hassle, so left
    it.

[1] The half decent one with the rubber engine mounts and the the better
    calipers.

  3. IIRC, he doesn't use machine tools much, if at all. He does it all by
    hand, believe it or not.

  5. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, platypus
    Jabiru.

    I probably won't.

    Yet.

30-45 large, 500 hours of tuits? You could buy something decent for half
that. Something like this, for instance:

Robins are brilliant, fast planes. But I'd advise you to do what I did a
lot of years ago, after I had my licence: buy a block of, say, 10 or 20
hours, and see how long it takes you to fly them off. If you manage it in
under a year (which I didn't), join a group for a couple of years and work
    up from there.

  7. That reg looks familiar. When you collect it, see if the seller has a
big nose and is called Pete.
Even if it's the one I'm thinking of, it's unlikely to still be in his
    possession.

I like them even though they're a bit fragile. I can remember one of
the UK magazines (I'm sure it was Bike) racing one at the Bol and if
it survived that then there isn't too much wrong with them.

  9. Vesa Kuhltalahti of Team Bike (sp?) raced an early FJ1100 in the open
class at some Bol or other. Definitely not a 1200.

He actually ground away the bottoms of the lower frame rails.

Team Bike Racing, the forerunner of Phase One Endurance. Fronted by
Bedfordian Howard Lees IIRC, who died in a plane crash. The later VF750
based Team Bike endurance bikes and all the spares were stolen from his
garage the night after the whole shebang was advertised as for sale.
