It appears to have only a single skin: i.e. no inner tent. That might
be a bit chilly in Germany.

It's certainly a possible concern. Then again I just don't know what
difference the mesh inner of my Khyam makes in warmth terms, little more
than a mosquito net as they are. Some condensation control I understand.

This alone is worthwhile - you do not want condesnation freezing on the
    inner wall of your tent.

Bee and I used it in Chimay. It was wet and fairly chilly. Didn't have a
problem. I have wondered about a bell mossy net as an inner.

Had I been able to go to the Elephant I was talking this
    www.quechua.com/EN/2-seconds-iii-blue-67751668 anyway

Nah. No porch, so wet gear has to come inside the tent and there's no
protection against swirls of snow entering as soon as you unzip it.
Not only that, but I've seen a few of these 'easy-up' tents turn into
very easy-down tents just with the weight of water and a bit of a
breeze on them. No good for anything other than a pub garden.

  8. Fairly chilly and sub zero are very different kettles of fish.
    No porch, in those conditions?

You weren't a boyscout were you?

I've just left a Khyam (1) tent buried under snow (2) in a field in
Germany because it wasn't up to the job.

The tent I bought with the trip to Finland in mind is a single skinned
goretex one that would have been ideal with the bike parked next to
it so I could leave the panniers on the bike with everything needed
it wasn't suitable for the Elefantentreffen.

    (1) £70 in a sale.

    (2) I collapsed it, put the flysheet and poles in the bag and used
that to weigh down the inner. It was forecast to snow again so it's
either buried or been taken home by someone else.

I've found a porch a bit useless in a small tent. TBF the primary
consideration was having kit which could be deployed fast enough to keep
Bonners happy. And it wasn't coming home with me (bonfire)

Cub, Scout and 'Leader. Can't you tell.

A porch serves no porpoise when the only use is to dive into and scramble
inside 2 sleeping bags for 2 nights.

  13. You want to sleep in wet clothes, or with wet gear inside the tent?

You forgot the other useful function of being somewhere to piss
without going out into the snow.

Hate to disagree but of a wet evening it wasn't exactly summer weather and
we were quite glad of the double sleeping bag. I do agree at other times it
    was positively tropical

I arrived in 3 layers of thermals amd Goretex outers. The only things that
moved until returning to the hotel were the Goretex.

  18. I desperately want to do another Elefant. God knows why.

This year, just didn't have the time. A fortnight off for Chile in
January, 10 days off for skiing in February: no time in between.

Next year, I'll make the time.

  19. Heh. Last year, after the bike died and I flew home, I was met at
Stansted by The Doctor whose first words were: "Poo! You smell...."

Basically, I'd lived in the same kit for three days.

I don't sweat much and in that temperature not at all so getting back to
York the gear wasn't offensive. Tog24 Merino rocks.
