The TV programme. Crash investigation "expert", one PC Mick
Whittingham (he was a mechanic before joining the Force, so he's an
absolute expert, right - holds up a H4 bulb and declares "The brakes
were on at the time of impact: the filament has bent rather than
shattering, so it must have been hot rather than cold".

Yeah, right. An R6 on a two-mile straight went up the arse of a
    tractor - there's a 100m darkie from a tyre, so it's pretty fucking
obvious the brakes were on, OK. Not that, though - for how long have
Yamaha been fitting halogen bulbs in brake lights?

I must confess, I got a bit shouty at the telly. Expert forensic crash
    investigator, my arse.

  2. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, SIRPip
Worrying thought that his "expert" testimony almost certainly has some
poor bastards doing time right now, isn't it?

Exactly. IDGAF whether he can tell his arse from his elbow, but when
an ex-mechanic, expert forensic investigastor fucks up like that on
something so basic it should call all his evidence into question.

I can feel an email coming on.

  4. Not really - I expect the rider was impaled on the three-point linkage.

No, he apparently hit the rear wheel and was dragged around by the tyre
    and crushed against the wheelarch.

I was channel hopping and spotted a bike feature on one of those
    'police stop' type programmes.

Admittedly, the biker on the M25 pis**d off the copper by flicking the
vees at him whilst filtering past (!), but the officer in the TrafPol
car that pulled him went well over the top and threw the book at him.

Anyone else see it or does this have a ginger hue ?

    Cheers,

    Paul.

That'll be the 'older' chap, who ended up stopped on a roundabout under
    a motorway bridge, will it?

All of these may be gingerish, as they are repeated ad nauseam with no
apparent regard for continuity as to age.

Is it possible that the real brake light bulb that was relevant to the
case was safely tucked away in an evidence bag in a locked room
somewhere and they just used any old bulb that was lying about for the
    telly?

It scares you, it really does.

Traffic police seem to have judge jury & executioner status now.

I mean, the **** (oddly enough from Traffic Cops) that nabbed me on the bike
last time ranted & raved we were riding in *his* area, i calmly reminded him
that as i was insured & taxed, i was free to ride where the **** i wanted &
he couod do nothing about that unless i broke a specific law. I felt it best
to keep quiet after that as i could my mates eyes burning into the back of
    my head...

I mean, how do you take some jumped up copper on an unmarked bike that's
opening line is 'you might have seen us on traffic cops'? I laughed.

Well, whatever they are showing now was definitely a repeat and
didn't contain the scenes Pip objected to...

    URL, Pip?

it was deffo a repeat - I'd seen it before and the recording dated from
    2007, I think.
