Ref New Zealand: The Franz Josif glacier is now enlarging (is that the right word) and has been since the mid 80s at anything up to a meter a year. It retreated nearly a mile during the 20C. The Fox glacier[1] retreated a similar distance, starting rapidly about 100 years ago. It started enlarging in the mid 80s at a similar rate. From evidence left behind them they have both been doing this for some while.
Your point being?
An example of natural cyclic conditions that has been going on for millennia upon millennia only altered to a minor degree by man in the last few years.
I doubt anyone in the climate change argument is going to argue with you that we have done through cycles (well some idiots might). But no humans have gone through this sort of change with this amount of population and this amount of infrastructure around. Ask some of the Pacific islanders whether they want to see 1/2 metre rise. We've now built up borders. Tuvalu is perfect example. 1000 years ago they would have jumped in canoes and set up a village in New Zealand. What happens when their country goes underwater? OK, only a small population, but they are going to be the start of it if predictions are correct. And that could happen in the next 10-20 years.
It is also an incredible and beautiful place. Deserving the over used expression AWESOME.
Absolutely. Haven't been there for years but it has such a range of scenery. It's fucking awesome. If I could find a job in New Zulland I'd be there in a shot as I don't need a visa to work there. Unlike that bloody country that claims to have a Queen of our country. Can't recall its name at the moment. It'll come to me tomorrow I'm sure.
