Think South Africa and needing to fly on an employers business which is not permitted on a PPL.[1] Get to a site and back in a day instead of 3 days minimum bouncing delicate instuments around in a commpany car on SA dirt roads. None of which would make a lot of sense in the UK so I understand your confusion. [1] Officially, but many people do it until they get to the 150 hours required for a CPL there. Questions are not generally asked unless something goes wrong but not having a CPL after around 150 hours is considered to be taking the piss.
