That warm? I recall when I was touring round, I was in southern Victoria in high summer, and it was well over 30 deg C. I was sweltering as I rode down to Wilson's prom, and on seeing a great looking beach, I parked the bike, changed quickly and ran into the water. My fucking heart damn near stopped! The water was *freezing*. I figured that it came straight from antartica, and also the last Aussie sea I'd been in was off Bondi Beach on Christmas Day, which was likely to be a lot warmer.
Yeah, but you have gone from a warm air temp to what I would imagine would be 18C max around Wilson's Prom at best, probably more like 14. I'm typing this at 2am and it is still 24C outside. It's the difference that makes the difference if you know what I mean. Heading for lower temps over the next few days then we are heading up into the high 40s. Water takes a lot longer to change temp than moving air does.
