  4. I always pick up an Observer on my BA Sunday flight to GVA, and a
Daily Telegraph on the Saturday trip back. It's amazing the number of
staff who raid the bins outside Departure Lounge A2 in GVA, picking up 2
or 3 papers as they go past. (BA usually provides Tribune de Genève, DT,
FT, and something like The Mirror there.)

Presumably then being in possesion of poo will now be an offence ,
including smuggling it onto aircraft hidden in bodily cavities....

  11. Not me who's being the TC, mate.

The whole point about SBs is that they don't mind going up with the
bomb. The whole point about hold baggage is an outdated one, that
bombers don't want to go up with the bomb. Pressure switch/timer sees to
that and the SB has got his/her luggage on board. Bob's yer free-falling
    in many bits uncle.

Heh, you cnut, I almost missed the phrase after 'upset about'...

What I'm upset about is the practicality of it all. I fly around Europe
at least 6 - 7 times per month. If this is brought into effect in the
    rest of Europe...

If I have to check my PC in (or my iPod, FFS), then it adds on extra
time to my journey [1], which could be better spent in the office.

Oh, and I think it's a gross over-reaction as per bloody usual. "And
we're doing it for your own saftey". It's scare-mongering, plain and
    simple.

[1] Although I like flying and spending time in the lounges, I hate
security controls as they're always too bloody slow. Especially the
    English controls.

Bollocks it is. What do *you* think the authorities should do instead?

I found out why I was delayed at Milan, a few weeks ago.

Some **** of a journo [1] decided to test the security system at CDG by
smuggling a pistol through security [2].

[1] I'll fucking nut him if I ever see him for inconveniencing me.[3]
[2] I don't know how he tried it, but they closed the whole of 2F and
re-screened everybody, causing a delay of 3-4 hours and an untold
    amount in financial losses.
[3] I'm not normally violent, but for some reason [4] I've been a bit
stressed lately and this'll calm me down.
    [4] Dunno why.

But I thought you _wanted_ a nanny state?
I'm flying (BA) to the UK on Monday. I hope they've returned to some
level of sanity by then. The biggest single factor for me,
particularly on longer flights, will be not being able to take a book
on board. I mean, what the **** am I supposed to do with all that
time? Especially as I'll have had to check in the bags ages in advance
of the flight and will have nothing to read while waiting either.

Surely they could allow books on board? I mean, how hard can it be to
check there's nothing hidden in a paper back?

[1] To the extent of them refusing to let me board with my dead laptop
because I couldn't prove that it actually *was* a laptop as it wouldn't
    boot up..
