I've just thought. Does this apply to mobile phones too? I'd expect so,
considering the other restrictions that have been imposed.

It would appear not though, wouldn' it. It'll be very interesting to see
    how this story unfolds.

Yes, but I didn't see mobile phones being specifically mentioned.

Not to be confused with those wannabes in the Gloss Chapter.

Well quite. Most of the lists show things you _can_ take on board, so
everything else is excluded. I have seen some that _do_ specifically
mention them though, along with iPods (hurray!) laptops and the like.

Lets face it the damage of 50 deaths last summer is nothing compared to
the numbers we lose on the roads. Without the media/government reaction
terrorism on this kind of scale would achieve nothing.

[1] Mind you to some extent the US's post Sept 11th foreign policy
agenda is excused by Sept 11th rather than shaped by it.

  10. Well, sure; but I was referring to a general principle, not specifics.
These cunts are (mostly) not stupid, and might be able to work it out
    for themselves.

The whole point is, nothing is 100% secure.

    You all fly safely, now.

no no no - it's got to be a political diversion - who's Prescott been

  12. Ah - but terrorism is done by blokes with funny beards and dodgy
clothes sense so they are asking for it!

Err.. hang on - I think I just described me.

It's been nice knowing you all..

    From www.dictionary.com

Terrorism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a
person or an organised group against people or property with the
intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often
    for ideological or political reasons.

So you're completely right. There are no need for bombs, etc, because
this has done the job for them.

Millions of pounds must have been lost today, due the disruption this
    has caused.
I'm, again, in total agreement [1]. But unfortunately the Merkins will
never do this. The money that Bush, his cronies and the US have made
out of killing people^H^H^H^H^H retaliating must be well into the
    billions of dollars by now.

Exactly what I'm driving at... it's frustrating to drop someone off at
the airport and have to watch them take off their shoes to get into the
waiting area. It was an almost physically strangling sense of Big
Brother. My wife recently flew with a Zippo in her carry on, they took
the wick out but left her the case... I mean seriously, we've
sacrificed all these things for what, more alarm when they think of a
    new way to attempt something?
I've got nothing against a little tit for tat, but definately not the
defensive, life style changing, "national ID card" response.

I'm trying to remember a quote.. something about freedoms and
    security.. ah, google.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little
temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Usually
    incorrectly attributed to Ben Franklin.

    Indeed.

See Sky (that font of impartial news) is saying all 21 arrested people
    are, of course, muslim.

Now I would expect that to change, but what if they are? Certainly not
doing much for community relations really.
