Heh, I almost *never* switch my PC on in the airport. I never work in
the airport and probably only phone people occasionally. I'm there to
    travel and not work.

    What's one of them then?
Sounds interesting. This service would be available to any business
    class passenger, would it?

I wonder if UKRM will go strangely quiet as we're all hauled in for
    'questioning'...

It's nothing you wouldn't see in any Steven Segal film.

Training videos eh? They'll be banned next.

In the case of SS movies, this could be a good thing.

  11. Few years back I took a small Unix box to Boston with some software on it.
Predates Unix on laptops. The inbound folk wanted to see it working. I
turned it on. A light flashed. They all scratched their heads... no monitor!

  13. At least once a month, plus the raises for surges. There's a website
    someplace.

Did it predate the Tadpole SPARCbook? That's been around for years.

    Eiron, Aug 11, 2006
  15. It was 1996, as I recall. We weren't running a SPARC supported Unix, either,
and it was all in a proprietary language. Oh God!

Business Travel. The very well paid lady that sits in your office
tucked away somewhere and books flights and other travel arrangements
for staff and visiting important people.
I suppose it depends on who you fly with. Tell them to put it in as a
special service request that you would like them to look into. I
don't see why it wouldn't work.

When I've booked flights for BA cardholders on something like Galileo
I put in their BA card number and end and retrieve the booking only to
find the airline has filled the PNR with confirmed requests for their
fave seats, their fave meals and all sorts of bollocks.

I didn't realise that was still chugging along on a company basis.

No, I meant the excellent Real Person In Your Office. We have
several, but then the company does house about 3,500 employees based
in Kent as well as peeps like reps and crew based all over the world
so it's probably cheaper and more reliable to do it in house. As we
have our own ATOL, IATA and ticking licence and print paper tickets in
house and issue e-tickets in house it saves time too.

They also double as staff concessions.

  19. I think we are confusing the term "flood barrier". There is obviously
the Thames Barrier for the river.

However a number of tube stations and tunnels have flood gates built
into them. I think Dan (the closet railway nutter) was referring to
those. My response was based on this meaning of the term.

We've got 320,000 people worldwide, it's cheaper to get somebody else to
do it all... Somebody who knows about travel. It's also cheaper to have
all those people sat at the other end of a phone line.
Most companies don't have that, and don't want to, so they also get
    sombody else to do it.
