Following which, I recently offered to bring one of those Piaggio things
back from Cheltenham to Gloucester - about six or seven miles, I suppose.

Now, it's thirty-something years since I last rode a moped but Jeezers, are
they really all so unstable in a slight breeze?

Arn't they restricetd to 30 MPH ?
So if he was speeding was he not done for modification ?

Or was it really a scooter ?

 

I used to ride SO's 50cc scooter.

Anything scooter shaped these days gets called a moped.

 

I'd say, maybe... wind and tyre ruts left by lorrys at an indicated 90+
on 12" wheels are fun and character building.
