I took the K1100 in for a 24k mile service today and the guy who did
the work (1) said it was in remarkably good condition all round and I'd
got myself a bargain. Apparently everything checked out ok though he
did comment that it was obvious that apart from engine oil it hadn't
had any oil or fluids changed for quite a while so I'm glad I went for
the full service rather than just getting him to give it a look over
    and leave it at that.

He commented on the odd choice of tyres fitted to it (Macadam front,
Azaro rear) and has agreed to supply & fit new Bridgestones in a couple
of weeks time on a price match basis so he'll be getting the business.
I had to laugh when he spent a good 10 minutes slating both the
concrete Macadam and the plasticene Azaro but when you look at the
selection of bikes (2) in his workshop you tend to get the impression
he likes fast bikes that go round corners well.

    (1) Independant BMW guy who used to work for a main agent and went off
    on his own.

    (2) Suzuki RG500, Honda NSR250 MC21, Honda VFR NC30, Aprillia RS125
with a 610cc KTM engine in it, Yamaha TDR250 plus a couple of old boxer
twins. There were a few other bikes in there that he's working on but
the ones listed are his personal ones. I've requested a go on the
RS125/610 when he puts a ticket on it and he was quite happy but said
that if I wreck it I give him the 2 grand it owes him.

in theory that should be similar to a stock Yam SZR660 - TZR125RR
frame with an XTZ660 engine in it, and reasonably trick suspension.

Apparently it dropped straight in with no chooping around and the only
'engineering work' was a new set of front engine mounts. He's put
different wheels on it, messed with the suspension and fitted full race
plastics with a hole for a small projector type headlight to be fitted
when h gets time. He claims the engine's bunging out 65bhp and the
bike's geared for 130mph so it should have quite a bit of acceleration.
He's still working on it but it's the sort of thing I'd love to have in
the garage just so I could act the idiot and nobody would know what the
    hell the bike was.

Indeed. Sounds a bit like a modern Gilera Saturno Piuma.

  7. I'd love a Mito with an RZ500 motor in it. Supposedly not that hard a
    conversion.

  10. Didn't someone build one with a Honda XL500 engine or similar in it?

Can not find, but for your viewing pleasure...

BTW, found while googling, Mitas does supermotard "hobby motard" wheels in
21/19 sizes... pity my XR600R has an 18 rear.
