I had the benefit of a certain amount of seniority and ended up on a
shunt job. I'd secreted my bicycle at Preston Park sidings on an earlier
trip and dumped my last unit there in time for me to cycle like buggery
to get home to Hove in time for midnight.

There were some truly spectacularly wankered people even at 23.30

Happy new year from me too - a little late as I only got home in the
early hours of this morn. I did send a few texts from the Piazza del
Popolo[1] & Trevi Fountain, but none seem to have arrived yet.

[1] I think it's impossible to explain what New Year's Eve is like in a
piazza in Rome, but I might try later when I have time. Utterly bonkers.

  4. I didn't actually have to work through - I volunteered for it.

I couldn't have gone out anyway as my rostered turn finished about 2300,
then I would have to get home. So, I though I'll just have the £250
    and the day off instead!

Next year I'm on annual leave so I can join the pissheads.
