Well, I would've gladly fired it up for you if I hadn't removed the rear
pipe already, with the front one hanging on by a lose screw.

Mind you, even after the trip to Canterbury it looks like there's a
crucial bracket missing. Unfortunately I don't know if that's still
available - I guess I'll better ring the parts desk at Warr's
tomorrow. If not I'll probably need the help of the usual suspects like
WUN to fabricate a bracket. Gah.

OEM bracket. I was under the same impression as you but it seems that
with exhaust "improvements" being one of the most popular "sports" when
it comes to Harleys, not many people are trying to go back to OEM or
near-OEM exhausts. Heck, I'm only trying to mount the headers...

Anyway, I just checked the Paughco cattle dog and they only list the
rear bracket (which I have) and not the front one (which I need...).

Yep, certainly will - man, it's as ugly as a barrel of arseholes.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the

Well, Warrs has been quite helpful for older parts so far as the Foundry
doesn't seem to stock that many. Plus I also don't have the H-D Part
number. But thanks for the link, that may well come in handy in the
    future.

Not a lot (I just bought the bike) - however their parts department
seems to be well clued up and very helpful. The previous owner of my
bike also used them and recommended them for parts & stuff.

Experience with their sales people is generally positive as well - I was
contemplating buying a bike off them but wasn't 100% sure what I
wanted. They had no problem letting me try different models to see what
    I preferred.

Overall, impressions are pretty positive and you get the impression that
the guys know what they're doing.

    <innocent whistle>

Actually I did assume that this wasn't the Harley part number - they
seem to be a lot shorter than the above.
Well, Harley confirmed that it's discontinued. Some more swearing in the
garage also showed that the above mount would got where the forward
controls are mounted. As I somehow do like having a brake, I'll have to
make another bracket that goes onto the mid-control mounting point
anyway. And of course that can't be a normal L-shaped bracket either
because that'll get in the way of the brake actuation rod.
