That bike was built for a bloke called Guy Mainwaring[1], one of the MDs
of Hein Gericke UK Ltd. When I started working for them we had it in the
Slough shop as an attraction when we had our opening weekend. When we
were shifting stuff into position I came close to dropping it while
pushing it into the shop. It is beautifully put together and a real 'no
cost spared' bike. Guy hardly rode the thing in the time he owned it,
    too busy apparently.

[1] Thoroughly decent chap, as it happens.

Shit with AP brakes and Ohlins forks that's a steal.

Hey BEAR, it's your dream bike.

    I'm fucking tempted, but it's only 136bhp

You'd only go and ruin it by fitting riser bars and chopping the
    fairing about...

He didn't chop the Gixer fairing, just trimmed the outer edges of the
screen to give the bars clearance. I stuck a new screen on and you'd
never have known it had poofs bars on.

That's just the Laguna painted Special Edition, not the R1 SP with the
Ohlins and Marchesini wheels. If it's at DK then it'll be a parallel
import too, so worth a bit less.

Actually, I like the paintjob aside from there's a touch too much black.

Ah, thought it was too good to be true. There was one for sale in
Brighton a while back, best looking bike I've seen with
the black body and gold wheels, was about £13,999 IIRC. Remember
working out it was cheaper to buy then to build up
a normal R1 due to labour costs.

I tell a lie, the 2 inch chicken strips might have been a giveaway.
Also, the first time it went past 99mph the speedo read "Oooh, slow
    down, Big Boy"
