Hartland Quay hill climb is now on Google Maps Street View. See how
quickly you can click your way to the top. You will need to reorientate
your view on the tight corners!

I'd quite like a go at the real thing actually.

    <googles>

    One piece leathers, hmmm

I'm sure I'd be slower than a slow thing.

    <looks in garage>

/me wonders which bike would be the most suitable.

I can't remember the details of all your fleet, but there is a long
tradition of riding Nordwests up the hills. One year (April 1996 IIRC)
there were three at that very hill.

I'll buy you a pint if you can crack 30 seconds (on the bike not on
    Google Maps).

Pencil it in to your diary now. It will be late March or very early
April. I'm hoping to have the YZ250 motor rebuilt ready for it.
Though I grant you it's a bit of a trek for you. Andy hasn't made it to
one yet either, despite having a not totally unsuitable bike available,
and he's not alone in that respect.

If you think I'm taking my ZX10R up a steep hill that includes a few
    hairpin bends you're deluded.

The Tenere? Too tall and too slow steering.

Maybe I should look at something more suitable and find someone
willing to transport me down there?

At some hills , including Hartland I'm pretty sure, you can do shared
rides on the same bike. You would like the YZ250 I'm sure.

Bet Andy would like my old KX500 more..... ;>)
That could climb hills. And when fitted with the road wheels with AM23s,
    even went round hairpins.
But it did put 3 people in hospital though to be fair.

They all do that sir! In any case two of the fastest new kids on the
block are riding big road bikes. An Aprilia Falco and a 1080 Suzuki TL.
A ZX10R would stand no chance against them.

Not *the fastest* TBF the 750 single or Aprilia 550 twins still rule the
roost, but those brave lads have been getting in the top ten
occasionally - though usually at faster hills like Oliver's Mount, Loton
or Shelsey. The Falco has been up Hartland in 25.54 though (hill record
    23.36) though.

  12. Unfortunately, it had an engine that proved a bit short-lived, though
you still see the odd one chugging around, especially in France.

But they were underpowered shite weighing in at supertanker class. I bet the
750 Pete's referring to is something a bit more nimble.

Ah, 750 class. They are mostly actually around the 600/650 mark, though
one bright spark is looking at creating a 751 to get in to the 1300
class. In fact Gilera built a 750cc single works desert racer based on
the Nordwest bialbero motor. Various people tried to prise one out of
the hands of Ciancamerla of the old race shop at Usmate Velate to put in
a Piuma for the singles TT but Piaggio weren't interested.
