Unbelievable but it's getting to the point where there's more decent chat to

You're an idiot, Clem, if you think that the demise of this NG could
be down to George and me (or any other two people. Two people cannot
bring down a healthy newsgroup, doesn't matter who they are.

The amount of traffic I interact with is maybe 2%. Mostly I
passively read the shite you guys dribble, shake my head, declare that
I will defend to the death your right to dribble bullshit, and get on
with the search for noteworthy content as I abseil down the message
list.

As for George, my veiws about him are well documented, but I would
never accuse him of "ruining the newsgroup".

If George and I DID have such amazing power, it could only be because
wankers like you have bestowed it on us.

For ages now, there have been a few who have tried to set themselves
up as the unelected sheriffs of this newsgroup. Each has
spectacularly failed. I call that a triumph for freedom of speech.
Control freaks don't like freedom of speech, and Usenet is all about
freedom of speech.

But you, Clem, are not interested in freedom of speech. If people
make comments you dislike, you try to marshall the rest of the
newsgroup into your personal posse of killfile compadres.

Interesting. I joined ozmoto around 1995 and the stats indicate that
that's when the ng traffic started its exponential growth for the next
seven years. Ergo, my ability to decimate newsgroups is much
overstated, and Knobdribble's Theorem is a soggy mess on the washroom
floor (where it belongs).

I just chucked that in to push some rampant killfilers' buttons. It's
a well-observed psychological phenomenon that people who killfile
others are intolerant pricks, and that intolerant pricks have huge
buttons which are fun to press.

I thought you of all people posting here would object to 'guilt by
association'. Clem posted complaining that the NG was turning into the
George and Gerry show (and the stats I posted tend to support his point).
You retaliated, defending your right to post whatever and whenever you
want.

What does IK have to do with it? Randomly abusing other aus.moto denizens
hardly makes your case more compelling.

It's old age that's killing aus.moto, and more or less any other
newsgroup. :-(

We don't get many new folk in here, since a newsgroup hasn't got the
bling (or do I mean shit?) factor of web based fora.

Those that do manage to find it get pissed off fairly quickly with the
in jokes and, to be fair, the abrasive personalities already here.

Also, newsgroups are old tech.... most of the spotty 14-year-old
children that run the technical side of the ISPs, don't know, or care,
about maintaining a news feed or server.

That, I do fine very hard to believe!

It is, but, such is life. <shrug>

We haven't had the same kind of run as the dinosaurs, ruling the world
for millions of years, but it has been good while it lasted, and we
ain't dead yet.

I reckon that aus.moto was probably one of the best of the newsgroups,
but, what would I know.

piss-weak fat arsed twit who says all these things, yet he has, supposedly,
got me and others in his "killfile".
He is too piss-weak to answer to any of his critics, ( there are quite a few
of them, ), because he has them in a killfile, which he doesn't see their
reply to his barbed posts about them.

in fact, he knows nothing, a fact which could also include knowing nothing
about motorcycles and repairing them, he is always talking about blowing his
bike up or some other drastic event.


But what the knobless one does not realise, is that by putting me and others
into his "killfile", he does not see their reply to other posters and then
of course, the knobless one replies with words the same or close enough to
what has already been said.

And, as much as I agree with Gerry about knobless, I do not agree with him
on lots of other subjects as you no doubt, will see if you read the posts.
But, life is all about that, being able to disagree with your fellow man,
without going into a tirade and abuse against him.

 

It's up there. Groups come and go, and I think that if a bunch of old
farts like to head butt each other around once in a while, let them.
They aren't harming anyone, and there's probably a net benefit all
around. I certainly don't hold with the notion that they are killing
aus.moto. To the extent that it's true that the group is terminally
ill (debatable), I think it's due to all of the members, not just a
select few.
