I'd have guessed that he could be in Cumbria by 11am without resorting
to a really stupid start time then it's probably 7 hours ride home.
Quite an easy day out really.

He's working in Kendal next week but not likely to be back in Barrow
until November. I could have sorted something out pretty easily a week
or so back but because I'm on outage work at the power stations from
the week after next my van is going to be full of equipment for a
    while.

I can give anyone a lift to Kendal but I only get to the office at
lunchtime on a Monday and Kendal to Seascale using public transport
might be a bit awkward meaning a later departure for the ride home.

If that's the case then leaving home 30 minutes earlier would mean I
could drop off in Lancaster between 10:30 and 11:00 which would put
the delivery boy in Seascale a couple of hours earlier making the
journey home a lot easier. I can also drop off said delivery boy at
Oxenholme because that's less than 10 minutes drive from our office
and might offer up better alternatives.

Of course this could all be blown out by me receiving an email telling
me I'm required elsewhere but that's just another variable.
That's not bad and would obviously be reduced if the Kendal -
    Lancaster leg was removed.

Freshford is like that, or was a couple of years ago. Terribly quaint.
    Bloody good pub, too.

It's Cumbria. Open carriages, mind your clothes don't get covered in
soot from the engine, and no faster than 20 mph so your lungs don't
    explode.

BMW (well, that was obvious) R100RS (oh my) with Krauser 4V heads. They
don't make those heads anymore and they're anything but easy to find.

IOW that stuff is so rare that I'm willing to risk paying import duty
    for the bike.

Why not just strip off the heads, replace with standard and flog the thing.
Then take the heads to the US as baggage.

That's plan B if the rest of the bike turns out to be a heap. That
said, it's got a couple of other modifications worth having, too.

And a decent RS isn't that easy to find the US. That was mostly RT
    country.
