The time draws close to remove the gay and trashy Bandit12 headlights.
What to replace them with though?

Ideally a pair of 180mm Cibie Oscar H4 dip/main but they are hooooge.
Would 360mm of light look way out of line? Would aircraft find them a
    hazard to navigation.

Alternatively where can I get empty bottom mount headlamp shells, in
black, 5 3/4 inch, to carry a pair of Cibie light units. All I can
find on the web tonight is complete Bates style lights or side mount
    shells.

  2. On one of my SOGSs, I fitted a pair of H4 driving lamps that are
actually headlamps. Spotlight mounts and black high density plastic
casings. I'm sure they're Hellas. They take the standard 5 3/4 headlamp
    bowls/lenses.

  3. In fact, they look identical to this...

    But without the orange bit.

I think mine were original fit for a digger, indeed I'm utterly certain
I've seen them on JCBs; I found them brand new at a bootsale a decade
    ago.

I've had a look around tractor, truck, digger fork truck parts suppliers
online; I'm certain I've come across these within the past couple of
years, but at short notice I can't dig anything up.

    Grimly Curmudgeon says...
I used twin JCB headlights on an RD250E way back in 1983. All the
electrics went in a shallow household double socket box with a blanking
plate, painted black and mounted on a little bracket behind the
headlight shells. Revolutionary they were, even if they were shit at
    lighting up the road.

    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

That would be like having two standard Bandit headlights on the front
end, man. Serious visual overkill. Your only option would be
vertical stacking and I think that would still look a bit daft, tbh.

Kit car parts suppliers may be the way forward, perhaps - I've seen
some that use pod-mounted small twin-filament lights.
