  2. Would someone here please help me with directions.

I need to provide written directions for some of my Aussie 07 IoM TT
clients arriving at Heathrow and taking the Underground to Liverpool
St Station. As I've lost the little fold up map, I had in June this
year, I can't remember the sequence of changes at various stations.

    TIA

    Kind regards & Merry Christmas

  4. I guess this is down to me given who I work for.

Take the Piccadilly Line service towards Central London (that's how it
will be shown at either T123 or T4 stations). All trains go this way so
no need to wait for a special one.

Now depending on the volume of luggage they will have they really have a
    choice of routes.

The most direct route is to change at Holborn onto the Eastbound Central
Line (any train from that platform will go to Liverpool St). However the
interchange involves two sets of stairs, corridors and two escalators.
If lightly loaded then this should be the fastest route overall.

Alternatively they could change at South Kensington to an eastbound
Circle Line train. Again there are steps and escalators to contend with
    here.

Alternatively (again) they could take the Piccadilly Line to Kings Cross
and then change to the Eastbound Circle, Metropolitan or Hammersmith and
City lines. Again there are escalators and stairs on what is quite a
    long interchange.

If they would prefer to change "on the level" then they should take the
Piccadilly Line to Hammersmith, cross the platform to the Eastbound
District Line (any train) and go to Tower Hill, get off the train but
wait on the same platform for a Circle Line train which will go two
further stops round to Liverpool St. You have a couple of sets of stairs
at Liverpool St to reach the exit but otherwise all interchange is
    "level".

    Piccadilly Line is dark blue.
    District Line is green.
    Circle Line is Yellow.
    Metropolitan Line is purple.
Hammersmith and City Line is pink

You've not said what time they are travelling but needless to say the
tube is busy at almost any time of the day but the rush hours are
particularly bad. If they get caught in the rush hour and are laden with
luggage then be prepared to squash in and possibly even travel in a
split group as trains will be full at any of the locations I have
suggested for changing lines. Sorry about that but it is best to be
    prepared and plan accordingly.

If they land early AM at Heathrow (which is most likely) then the tube
has a mini rush hour early on from Heathrow because so many flights land
    at that time of day.

An alternative would be to catch Heathrow Express (very expensive) or
Heathrow Connect (medium expensive) from Heathrow to Paddington. These
trains are operated by or for BAA and charge high fares to reflect the
fast journey times and more upmarket service quality than the tube.

From Paddington they can catch the Circle Line (clockwise or eastbound)
direct to Liverpool St. It is a bit of a slow drag on that link.

    Hope all that helps!

Dunno, and in reality I'd favour leaving my car at our office in Feltham
and getting a cab, because public transport is awful. :)

(By the way, that move isn't strictly legal, at least not if we're
taking Harringtons second revision of the Sidings and Terminus
Interleave into account. I'll let you off this time though.)

  8. Yes, it does indeed.

Thanks very much, Paul and I hope I get the chance one day to buy you
    a pint.

  9. You're welcome. Pints of beer aren't necessary - it's all part of the
    service.

  10. Milligan, you fucker! I was in London a couple of days ago. Am back up
    in the North country now.

How long are you going to be in this land of ale-swilling bastards? I
assume you are coming to IOM as well. There is a chance I'll be living
    there . . .

    Cheers

  13. Gleeson, you 'Orrible ****. They'll let anyone into Blighty now, Eh?

I've just got back from Dale Porter's celebratory drinky thingo to do
with young William. Faarking 38 degrees today in Melb and covered in
smoke from the fires out East.
The GLW and I arrive on Thursday 3 May ver early to unpack our bike
shipments. Clients arrive variously from Friday 4 May thru Tuesday 8
May. We depart on Monday 13 August after a few days in London.

Tue 8 May we head across to Holyhead for the night and on Wed 9 May
morning we catch the ferry to Dublin (Dun Laoghaire) and then ride up
to Portrush. Hog of this parish has offered to show us the way
around/through Dublin in return for pints.
I'm on a 20 May ferry from Belfast to Douglas and the rest of my crew
    are arriving on 26 May.
Nah, mate, they're much more fussy than the Poms. Tell 'em you're a
Kiwi and you might have half a chance. Tell 'em you know me and you'll
be schweet, ... or in jail.
I've not had the pleasure of meeting Jeffles, but say hi anyway.

    You got a ride organised?

If you get to the IoM call me on 07624 406 711 (don't call me on Sat
26 May cos I'll be fucking busy collecting clients from the ferries
and escorting them to their respective accommodations) and if I can
stagger to the bar we'll have a pint. The Bay Hotel in Port Erin is my
    favourite.

kind regards & have a good Christmas

  15. Seems so . . .
Yeah got an SMS in the middle of last night from a mate who was on the
Tasmanian toy run and it was 36C. Yuk.
Cool - sure we can arrange a beer. Hang on, didn't we do that earlier
this year? OK - so I was a bit slow getting over here.
Haha, yeah right. Anyway, will know soon. Might be a brief stint in
Canada (Canada winter, ouch!) first though. See what happens.
Jeffles has a spare Bimmer, but I didn't bring any riding gear with me
and we can't find a loan helmet big enough for my fat head. I'm not
fussed at the moment, main priority is sorting out this job shit.

    Cool - will do.
Have a good one yerself too.

    Cheers

  16. Yeah - first we make you drink that bloody awful Fosters shit (I
almost wet myself laughing when I saw how many pubs that is in over
here, can't buy it at home).

Next we send a few advance party over to capture Earls Court. Then we
set up base on the Isle of Man.

Next? Total domination I tell ya!

Well, I'll take over a few pubs anyway. Some fucking lovely ales ya
    got here.

Hmm, must be nearly beer o'clock.

Isn't it always? As some Yank said, "Beer, now _there's_ a
    temporary solution!"

  18. Oh I don't think so (well unless you mean something I haven't cottoned
onto yet), I've been a fan of English ales for years. Don't worry,
we're not all lager-swilling cricket fans you know. I can't stand the
game and wish people would stop asking me what score is or whether
I've seen a Tasmanian Devil. (NFI and yes, OK?)
I know, but if you do it often enough, the temporary bits run into
    each other.

Arrghh, all this beer talk is getting me thirsty. I am determined to
wait until after 5pm though. I went out to get some milk at 2.30pm
yesterday thought I'd stop for one pint and then these geordie dudes
insisted on buying me some beers and the milk sorta got totally
forgotten. You know how it goes?
